Quite. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didnt Bergwijn get thrown into the deep end against Man City as soon as he signed for us?

But still, I'm loathe to be harsh on Poch. I love him while not being naive to his limitations and responsibility for our implosion. If anything I just want to be positive towards José and not prejudge him before this upcoming season.

Think Poch left in November with Bergwijn joining in January 2020, so JM played him early not Poch

Bless.... You're clearly trying ever so hard to be funny.

The irony is; I bet if one was inclined a quick post search would reveal that twats like you mention our owners or chairman way more than any so called 'lovers' do.....

Pathetic, shook little children.

You think there are people out there that agree that Lamela should start over Dele and Bergwijn?

Or that he should be a regular in our starting 11?

That number would be extremely tiny at best.

How Dele has played most definitely he has been awful for 2 seasons but still gets picked. It's only Son and Kane who are safe because of there goals scored. The others have not earned there spot. I think there are a few who could see past the biased and pick Lamela but it should be on performance's. Dele played over 1000 minutes more this season m 9 ost starting in all competitions he scored 9 and assisted 6. Lamela scored 4 and assisted 6 most from subs bench . Playing the same minutes and Lamela given the same chances as Dele I dare say he would out perform him . That's my opinion you have yours

Where is Zaha playing in our squad?

Up front with Kane in a 4-4-2 but then that puts Son further back than he likes and its hard to see how GLC, PEH and another CM that we seem to want/need, especially if Ndombele stays, fit.

I guess he could play on the right with a front 3 of Son-Kane-Zaha, but then Bergwijn is permanently on the bench which seems like a waste and we still have Moura and Lamela as well. Plus need to fit in Alli, GLC, PEH, Ndombele or replacement into a midfield 3.

And none of that takes into account where the money comes from to overpay Crystal Palace who have had nothing but overvaluing him the past two seasons.

I like the idea of adding the potential talent but it is hard to see a fit or how we can afford the move.

Hmm. He could actually play with or instead of Kane. Homegrown too.

But fuck me the price would have to be massively down from Palace's previous estimations.
I was going to make a post yesterday that I believed that we would always be on the lookout for an absolute steal in this climate. That even with a limited budget, Levy wouldn't walk away from an absolute top deal.

I'm not fully convinced Zaha fits that description though of being an absolute steal at 40m or something like that.

Zaha will do well when he moves to a bigger club. Poor guy is double and triple teamed every time he plays. Him coming here would surely mean Lamela out the gap. Doubt it happens.

Dele has not been great but he has still been better than Lamela over that time frame and when he was at his best it was so far beyond what Lamela ever has been or could be it makes sense why the better player gets more opportunities.

I have no problem with replacing Dele and think it is something we should certainly look at but replacing him with a clearly inferior player is not the way I would chose to go. I think we should look to improve the position not make it worse.

Bruno and an unsustainable run of form. United and Chelsea are good, but this idea that they will be pushing for top 2 seems far-fetched and based on cherry-picked form.

OGS/Lampard are basically just playing their best players, but that's the limit to their tactical nuance.
Exactly.

Give Ole and Lampard, even Klopp, the injuries Jose had to deal with this season and see if they cope.

We were missing Kane, Son, Dele, Davies and Lloris this season, amongst others.

Take Bruno, Matic, Martial, Wan-Bissaka and De Gea out of Utd.
Take Pulisic, Willian, Kovacic, Azpilicueta and Kepa out of Chelsea.
Take Mane, Firmino, Fabinho, Robertson and Alisson out of Liverpool.

I bet none of them make top 4, maybe Liverpool just.

I wouldn't rule this out at all given Mourinho's penchant for keeping someone pacey fresh on the bench to run at defenders with tired legs in the last half hour of a game.

Also, we really need good options for squad rotation. It's obvious that we're going to go hell for leather at every available cup and that's going to mean an awful lot of games next season.

Fact is, we've not had a year without some major injuries to key players. The team might seem overly stacked on attackers if we brought Zaha in but I guarantee that X is going to pull a hamstring, Y is going to have some neanderthal defender take his ankle/knee out, and Kane will have his obligatory 10 match injury.

No chance if fee is more than about 20% of what it was (ie 80% less), and at 27 no resale value.

Think I'd go for Eze at a better fee, greater potential and probably almost as good right now
Sounds like your more interested in the strength of the clubs bank balance than you are in the strength of the football team on the pitch.

I mean, seriously, what the fuck!

Dele has been playing further back than he did, so no surprise his goals/assists dropped.

But Dele for 18 months or so was also not playing well, showed signs of gettimng back to old form under JM but still some way to go.

Lamela's problem is his injuries - not fit to play for pretty much 50% of the matches over a 7 year period is a major problem - you cant rely on him being available to cover other players as he may not be fit. His stats are ok when fit.....but similar to Dele's over his time at Spurs including his bad recent period.
