As I said, it´s not about depth in this case, it´s about quality.

Before the window, it looked like we could replace Foyth with another young player - Kim MIn-jae, for example. We could still do something like that.

I definitely don´t see us paying for "a better" central defender - the only possibility would be Ndombele going the other way.

Kim Min Jae is 5 months younger than Davison Sanchez and a year older than Foyth, we may need to temper the young player if we add him to our squad (which thankfully it seems like we won't be doing).

I think the squad will be a mixture of some average to good signings with young players supplementing that.
It may mean that some performance levels will be hit and miss from the younger players, but there is not a lot we can do considering the club won't spend big without no CL, although the irony is we might not be good enough to get CL for a while.

Rakatic made 31 appearances for Barca last season. not too bad tbf.

*I don't know how may were off the bench, none the less regular enough.

Him and 10-20mil for Tanguy?

i would much rather get a better and younger player for Ndombele.

I am also not too keen on Rakitic being the replacement for him in the starting 11 and doubt that 20 million is enough to get Levy to buy a player that could be a Ndombele replacement.

That is better than having Ndombele on the bench all year but a massive drop off from Skriniar.

Wiki really sucking Rakatic off here

A talented, intelligent, and hard-working midfielder, Rakitić is known in the media as a well-rounded playmaker, with good stamina and defensive skills, as well as excellent technique, close control, vision, passing, and an ability to read the game, which enables him to dictate play in midfield and create chances for teammates after winning back possession, despite his lack of pace. As such, he is capable of both breaking down opposing plays and subsequently transitioning the ball forward to start attacks; he is also capable of scoring goals himself, courtesy of his striking ability from distance, as well as his ability to find and exploit spaces with his movement off the ball and make attacking runs into the box. A versatile player, he is capable of playing in several midfield positions, and has been deployed as a winger on either side of the pitch, as a central midfielder, as an attacking midfielder, as a defensive midfielder, in a box-to-box role, or even as a deep-lying playmaker

He wouldn’t be a replacement for Ndombele in the starting XI because he wasn’t in Jose’s . I would take Rakatic’s class and experience over Sissoko’s clumsiness any day.

I am assuming that Ndombele is penciled in for the starting 11 for the upcoming season in part because we paid 60 million for him and could get a huge fee for him and in part because we desperately need he supposed passing and creativity.

I am also fine with using Ndombele as a placeholder for that role which is another creative/passing MF to compliment GLC in the MF. That seemed to be much of the talk about why PEH was brought into the team so we could play two players like that.

Sure I will take Rakitic over Sissoko any day which is why I am fine with him coming in as a bench player but if the plan is to have him come in and be in a starting 11 in a MF with PEH and GLC then that is a huge pass for me.

If we went through all season last year seeing how much we struggle to create offense and have our big moves be adding Rakitic and PEH to our midfield and dumping Ndombele that is a massive failure in my eyes.

We need a player that is what Ndombele is touted as being whether that is him or not I don't care we need that style of player. Rakitic at 32 is not that player.

would you swap lo celso for dybala

With our current line-up?

Probably not both because I don't think Dybala would be as useful dropping as deep as GLC does and don't see anyone who can reliably move the ball up to the front players and because I am not confident that Dybala would be happy here long term. I think GLC is comfortable here long term.
