I won’t speak for other people, but I’m dubious of Rakitic because he’s 32, his performances are declining, and I don’t think he’s a great fit for Mourinho. He was a very good-great player at his peak and helped the Barca midfield tick for a pretty damn good length of time, but he’s not the player he was even at the World Cup two years ago.

However, we saw something similar with Vertonghen this past season, when players lose that ability to compete at the top level, it isn’t coming back. Barca are keen to move on Rakitic because they are broke and need to get rid of his wage, so there is a cheap deal to be had, but we’re going to be right back in the market for a MF again next summer if we do it.
We should swerve, he will score 2 worldies a season then disappear for the rest of the time.

Milan have come to their senses, Aurier will make 40 starts for us next year

The "race" is on!

I still live in hope!!
Swedish forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic, 38, has yet to sign a new contract with AC Milan. The veteran will be a free agent after the end of August. (Gazzetta dello Sport - in Italian)

Can envisage Cavani fitting on the pitch alongside, or covering, Son and Kane more than Ibrahimovic...

Leeds get huge transfer boost as Edinson Cavani's Benfica move dramatically collapses

He's dropping his wage demands apparently, time to nip in?

There is so much going on at Barca it’s hard to judge whether his “legs have gone” or the whole squad has gone stale and rotten from the inside. As Modric has shown though, experience and intelligence as a holding midfielder can overcome slowing legs, especially if you put willing runners around him.

Problem Barcelona has it has almost no young players capable of being 'willing runners' - average age of their side is usually 30.

That's why Bayern beat them so comprehensively, Barcelona no longer had the legs to run nwhilst Barcelona players (much younger) just carried on running.
