I personally don’t think he is. Dele Ali isn’t a centre midfielder, which VDB naturally is. He’s just more of an attacking centre midfielder. I think they are different players. VDB would fit perfectly in that midfield with PEH and GLC. You want creativity ? GLC further forward is our creativity. He will get the freedom now we have drafted in PEH.

Sorry mate don’t agree. Rather we spend on a striker and creative player than him.

As someone said earlier above; we have 3 players that are somewhere between a #8 and a #10 (GLC, Ndombele, Dele)... VDB would be much the same.


I don't think you're considering what we are likely to do as much as what you want us to do.

Yes he could also be a flop, or leave at his peak before we’ve achieved anything, but it isn’t a reason not to sign anyone.
It’s not like Eriksen playing shit to not get injured after some five years and looking for a way out, it’s a player signing a new contract at a new club, who wants to impress for a big move later down the line.

Shouldn't any up and coming player have the ambition to one day play for Barca or Madrid?

I would really question a player wanting to sign for us if his ambition had always been to play for Rochdale....

Lets face it, in most cases if a player comes here and attracts Barca's attention, they've likely been a great success(*).


(*OK, we have the counter example of Ndombele staring us in the face, but let's face it; it's not ability that's been the issue here and we should be thankful if indeed his current situation hasn't deterred such high profile/big spending suitors.....)
