I think our first choice was Wilson but it seems he didn't want to be back up to Harry. Fair enough he wants to be first choice and he will get that at Newcastle. After that Jose has had to reassess the market, work with his budget and someone like Diallo comes back into play
Is Diallo going to have the kind of mentality that Mourinho is talking about though?
The president doesn't want him, he's kicking him out the door like a man who has stayed at his parent's home for too long.

“He is 24-years-old, it is time for him to pursue his career elsewhere. Our objective is to sell Habib Diallo and leave more room in the attack for Ibrahima Niane.”

Red flags there.

I don't get how that applies to changing your mind on things like thinking jose is a cheque book dinosaur. Then the moment you hear he is to be our new manager you suddenly think he is a winner who still has it & it's a great appointment. Or your whole stance is spending big is a waste time & doesn't equal success. But then when big spenders win another big trophy, you say its a hollow victory & they just bought the trophy which requires little skill.
I think you are talking about more broader issues & points of view. None of which legislates for any of the above.

I don’t get how any of that applies to anything I have ever said.

& vice versa. I was talking about people who change their mind to match levy/Enic which is a fact as it has been done a lot on this forum. The stuff you said didn't dispel what I was claiming in my post that you chose to reply to. Unless you weren't trying to claim otherwise, you were making a point that some people don't do that. Which I agree with anyway. Anyway, lets enjoy the Everton match :tobyarm:

Still a lot of striker options that might be possible - my top half dozen based upon 'not a lot' and in no order :

King
Diallo
Vinicius
Jiminez (As Mendes is Vinicius agent he might go to Wolves giving Mendes a 2nd commission by moving Jiminez to us ?)
Edouard
Milik

So.....as clear as mud who to expect ?

Yes he did, his goalscoring record for us in the league was awful. Nice guy and a few good flick-ons in the CL, but for us he was a failure as a striker in the PL.
He wasn’t Kane, for sure. Also, Poch expected him to play like Kane - Nando’s skill is dealing with crosses into the box- Poch clearly expected him to be some other player. In fact, more I think about it, the fact that it took Poch about six months to fathom this out and also couldn’t get players to feed balls to Soldado, or provide balls into the box for Janssen, suggest more about Poch than the players, and his massive tactical inflexibility.

Soldado, Llorente and Janssen were all very shit. Hope that helps

Soldado can't keep a place at average Spanish/Turkish clubs, Llorente is warming up another bench doing nothing, Janssen is playing in Mexico at 26 years old.

Jimenez? No chance... Wolves only sell him for 60 or 70 millions.

Vinicius, Benfica want 45 millions..

Our budget fora striker is more and less 20M. Levy will not spend more than this.

I think Joshua King is a decent óption. Good back up and a fair price...

I've never read anyone grumbling about the notion of spending money on players, I've only ever read people grumbling about the players we are spending that money on or rationalising why we spend different amounts at different times. That's not changing their minds, that's called applying rationale to match circumstances (ie the fluctuation in revenues/profits).

Some of the people that can rationalise why a business has different expenditure budgets in different years, due to fluctuation in revenues and profits (due to things like not having/not having CL revenue, building a stadium that adds revenue but also debt to be serviced, COVID etc) also criticise ENIC/Levy for what they do with that money.

I liked Poch and I think he was a good motivator. Tactically I think he was lacking.
