There is not a situation where Bas Dost is the answer, I'd rather play Son up top than him.
Not sure others' take, but I'd much rather take Bas Dost than Sorloth- Dost has a consistent and proven scoring record in reasonably competitive leagues. In comparison, Sorloth ripped up the Turkish league once. Dost would be fine as a target man for two seasons in Jose's system.
Also, let's not forget, if Mou does gets fired before too long, which seems increasingly likely, we won't have lost too much money sunk into "players of his choosing". I'm feeling pretty reluctant to open the bank for Mou given how he is setting up the team to play. 20m for Doherty, Dost and Hart is not bad at all to keep him "happy", even if they can only provide the club with 2-3 seasons of decent play.

yeh I think I possibly would, if we keep everyone though. So add Bale and Reguilón to the ranks. I would still love a back up striker though and still think we need this, but Bale would definitely be a fantastic alternative, as he can score goals like a striker. Theoretically we need Reguilón, Bale and striker though.

I really hope Davies is not considered a starting XI player at any position for a club of our reputation/stature. He's a serviceable squad fullback, a bit of an undersized squad level LCB, a good presence in the dressing room and club representative, and nothing more.
I would still wonder why we didn't spend 5m to have Dost play the Europa and Cup games for us. Wouldn't be mad but since it was so cheap and we really need to win a trophy for 5m it seems worth it to have a proper striker for those games.
But I would be much less angry about not going out and signing a potential starting 11 striker.
