Transfers Summer 2020 Transfer Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Would be epic but unless we sell sissoko abd a few others I can't see it
Yeah, I wouldn't put any money on it! Just wondering whether Don Levy is planning a surprise.

In all seriousness one change in our usual transfer policy that I'm incredibly pleased about is seemingly dropping the 'sell before we can buy' rule we seemed very wedded to (especially with regards to squad places). At the moment we seem rather unhindered by not yet shifting the deadwood and I much prefer it this way - make it clear they aren't going to be playing and I imagine agents are suddenly much more motivated to find a transfer away.

For the first 5 coming in (Hojbjerg, Doherty, Hart, Bale, Regulion) other than KWP (who Southampton wanted as part of the deal for Hojbjerg) we didmy need outgpings to sign them as 3 HG who we had places for plus we had 2 overseas trained places due to Vertonghen and Vorm leaving.

Good planning.

Players like Foyth still to leave but not big money and easy to place permanantly or on loan.

Might need one or two main stream pl,ayers to leave to accomodate CB/striker and if we get a midfield player

Meh. FFP was thrown to the way side. I’m sure no one at the club is concerned

Maybe Inter still owe money (say 15m) for Eriksen.

Adds pressure on Inter to negotiate plus reduced amount of 'new money' Spurs need to find

Would be pretty epic if the end result is 17m outlay to get Skriniar, like others though I'm not for him due to athleticism failings (+cost), it's a bad fit for our back four, unless we can get the Barca youngster( the geeks like) as well, dropping Foyth and Toby/Dier, think Sanchez may chest out mentally if he beats the cull, he was epic early on for us and latterly at Ajax showed huge potential, in a unit he has qualities for - ball player outs in close proximity).

Actually I'm in, think Sanchez and Skriniar would work (Reguilon and Doherty as outs and Hojberg/GLC showing constantly), can Skriniar play left CB?

Think Mourinho's been in Levy's ear saying Skriniar can be his Terry/Vidic type warrior.

Heady days though.

He's not for us much longer Toby, it's slower in Italy, but suspect wages will scupper that, unless his Mrs with her young one wants to be in Milan for the next lockdown rather than London...

I'd be inclined to accept, if he forms £10m of the deal, and as Spursidol Spursidol eluded, if they owe us £15m we might only need to find £10m for Skriniar, plus £5m clauses/performance I'd suspect.

That’s the crutch here, if skriniar can play LCB then great but if he can’t and we don’t pair him with sanchez then we will be stuck with another slow CB pairing.

The expired contracts definitely helped, but you see what I mean about Foyth (loan or sale), Sessegnon (loan), Aurier (sale if he wants to go) being things we may have previously insisted on getting out of the way before seriously moving for purchases.

It's rather sad considering how happy he was to sign his new contract and commit to the next couple of years with us (in the documentary) - but alas if his legs are starting to go then his days here and numbered. Worth noting that Jan is only a couple of years older than Toby, so if the former suddenly declined at the start of the 2019/20 season...

The thing is a good defender, and he has been a very good defender, should be able to compensate for losing a few steps by reading the game, communication with his partner, but all this too has been a bit lacking from him. He’s had some good games too, but he’s not been leading the defence in a manner that a player of his experience should. It’s like the collapse of the Poch era and losing the CL final affected some of the players so deeply that they’ve been in trance ever since.

Did he have a good patch for a few games under José or am I imagining it?
