Missed this last week. Not that it's really 'news' as such. Saint Maximin would be a really exciting signing, but a shame the story is nothing other than an ex-player saying he could see it happening. Would really love to see the rumour mill start going to town on this one... it's not as if we don't have a great history of signing legendary tricky dribbling type players from Newcastle...
Sissoko or Ginola?

:kanehand:

Anguissa is a very good player, better than Hojbjerg I would say, let alone Winks and Sissoko. He would be a good improvement to our midfield and would come for a very low fee, probably.
Very low fee? In what universe lol

He'd cost 25-30m easily. He was one of the best, if not the best, central midfielders in La Liga for Villarreal like a year ago.

He's way better than PEH, Winks & Sissoko but even though I'd like to get him, we probably need a more consistently creative midfielder since Lo Celso is always injured or shit, Ndombele gets dropped for eating too much cake or not being bothered or whatever while PEH can't pass forward to save his life.

Doesn't matter who we get if all our other options lack basic, fundamental things like PEH with passing, Sissoko with technique etc.

Looking at their defensive stats, I am quite surprised they are very similar. I have watched a fair amount of Anguissa since his time here and I just feel he is a bit too off and on with his approach to the game. Similar feelings to Ndombele, who many would argue the stats state otherwise.

But yes, technique-wise, Anguissa is twice the player PEH is in my view. I am just wary of his motor, which we cannot fault PEH for.

Statistically, Bissouma is similar, but he never stops. Would cost a whole lot more, but someone I would want.

Someone mentioned Harrison Reed and I honestly like him more for his engine. Similar numbers again with Anguissa, but the kid just doesn't stop. English as well so would fill in the HG quota that is always so difficult to muster it seems.

Reed would be a great get. Proper little midfield terrier.

What is the deal with Anguissa? Wonderful feet, but couldn't see a pass to save his life any time I've watched him. Just plays with his head down. Seems to be a question mark, too, over how hard he is prepared to work from a defensive point of view?

He seems to play a lot of ISO-ball. Head down and trying to dribble more than passing.

Still a good player but it is a bad habit that he has to break.

Players with one year left on their deals who might interest us ie will be cheaper

Defence.....Ginter, Milenkovic, Tarkowski, Denayer, Felipe(Lazio)

Midfield....Zakaria, Soumare, Kessie, Sabitzer, Pellegrini, Kamara (Marseille) Grillitsch

Forwards.....Ings, Edouard, Armstrong

Dear God please for the last time stop putting sentences with Tarkowski in them in Spurs threads. He is exactly the same as Dier.

It's a term that is more common in basketball, but I think it fits for certain footballers as well.

It stands for Isolation ball, or Hero-ball if you prefer that phrase.

Players that like to hog the ball and do everything themselves instead of passing it around.

It's not necessarily a bad thing. If you have a very good dribbler that can get out of most situations then it can be a great help as long as they know when to pass the ball. But it can be a bad thing if you do not have that.

So a fancy term for a "glorio"

Personally, I wouldn’t sell Aurier. I think he’s our best RB. Has his flaws, but he’s miles better than Dogherty and I don’t think it’s the right position for Tanganga.

Unless we have a replacement of course....
