I'll respectfully disagree.

We need a DOF that can handle scouting and player recruitment. Football is moving away from the setup where managers are the key decision makers involved in transfers. Because 99% of managers don't have the time to also be that heavily involved in scouting.

Our best recruiting years under Poch was when Mitchell was here who understood Poch's system and knew what Poch wanted and needed and could deliver that, and all Poch had to do was say "sure, let's go for that one".

Our years post Mitchell may have been more successful on the pitch, but that is in part because a lot of the squad that Mitchell put together is still here. Players bought after he left have all either been square pegs for round holes, or round pegs but not the correct size for the hole so to speak.

In modern football, the most successful teams tend to be the ones with a sporting director pulling the strings, and a manager that can focus on the on pitch work as much as possible.

If Spurs want long term success and stability this is a model that the club will have to give in to.

Ah I miss Paul Mitchell, found us some great talent.

I also remember an interview he gave a year or so later where he said that behind the scenes at Tottenham were an absolute mess.

As fans, we're not privy to certain information, and over the years there's always been things coming out at that no one is willing to fully discuss at the club.

My biggest worry now is that
a) foreign players generally take a year to adapt
b) we need to replace half the squad
c) lost business revenue from Covid.

We need a clear out and I don't think Levy will sanction that while Jose is in charge because Levy still seems convinced we can win things with this core squad.

No real strong opinions on this really.

Fine keeper, would prob prefer Henderson as he's younger but meh.

Getting that Catholic market as well as the Korean market. Nic.... Oh, not that Pope huh.

In seriousness I would be fine with this. He has a lot of similar traits to Hugo but is better in the air.

Sure, he is 29 but goalkeepers in general can have longer careers than outfield players. We could get at least 4 years out of him if he stays healthy.

The England international has become increasingly frustrated at the lack of opportunities afforded to him since returning to Old Trafford last August and will not entertain the prospect of spending more time on the bench next season.

Hugo Lloris is entering the final year of his present contract in the summer and Spurs have continued to monitor developments at Old Trafford, with manager Jose Mourinho a known admirer of Henderson.

But Henderson's £120,000-a-week five-year contract, signed in August, could prove a sticking point for Spurs.

I believe Hugo is on £100k.

Any idea if that £100k is before bonuses?

If we are interested in Henderson and he wants to come here, I'm sure a deal could be done.

I don't know - Pope is a solid keeper and the homegrown premium making him £30m doesn't seem like too much of a stretch to me.

For what it's worth though I'd much rather Dean Henderson if given the choice. 5 years younger and better in my opinion. In the mad world of PL pricetags for English talent if Nick Pope is £30m then Henderson is suddenly a £40m player.

Just done a Danny on him.
His contract doesn't expire until 2025, so he won't be cheap. I doubt if Utd would let him come here.
But if he were allowed to come here, I'm sure a deal could be done on his wages, especially as he is currently warming the bench.
Been pretty happy with Hugo but he's cost us a lot of points recently. Could be the chopping and changing in defence but I suppose we need to be looking to the future.
All our GKs' contracts expire in 2022!

I don't think it is the salary that is the sticking point, but the length of the contract. He would cost a pretty penny to get in unless he cause a commotion at Carrington to force a move.

If Vinicius goes we must ensure we sign another backup ST ahead of next season
Perhaps get another Vinicius type deal which has actually worked out really well for the club.

(As in We've been able to try out a player a good quality player for very little and he's also provided backup so that he rather than Kane plays in the cups)

We'd need someone capable of playing up top and out wide, in my opinion.

So they can atleast cover for Son too if he needs resting or gets injured.
