Tbh if we got 2 CB's we could really challenge for that top 4

Of course there are still other issues but then at least once we get 2 CB'S all positions are at a good level.

Still need a RB, CAM and maybe others depending on if the likes of Bale/Vinicius aren't here next season.
Yeah, I think what we need in transfer window will largely depend on performance of players in certain positions.

CB is the exception, where we need at least 1 in for sure.

CM will depend on Alli's performance. If he can find his old form, then having him, GLC, Ndombele, Hojbjerg and Skipp means we're okay in CM. Personally I think it's unlikely he rejuvenates his career, so would like to see Sabitzer in.

RW will depend on Bale. He has shown a bit of spark recently, but let's see if he can actually convert that into match winning form. Bergwijn and Lucas both have clear limitations, so if Bale doesn't star, then a RW will be required.

ST will depend on Vinicius, and whether Benfica accept a lower fee of around 20M. He definitely isn't a 40M player. I actually think this is quite low priority, because we could get a RW who has the ability to play up front.

Who is choosing those CB's?

Because if it is Jose/Levy/Hitchens I doubt we a. get the kind and quality we need and b. come close to competing for top 4.

Two new CB's and nothing else still leaves us fully reliant on Kane and Son to create all of our goals, especially if Jose is there so we get no help from the manager when it comes to attacking.

If we are only getting 2 new players, especially if we are keeping Jose, then I would much rather go with one new CB and keep Toby starting and add a CM/CAM who can help with creating chances.

Not saying that we should do all of our shopping there. But Palace have 17(!) players with contracts that expire at the end of the season. 16 if you don't count Batsman.

Remember Connor Wickham? Does Palace remember Connor Wickham?

Outside of Mitchell that is a giant pile of old meh.

No wonder Palace are so shit, I am not sure you could get a list of more unappealing mediocre players around. Not terrible players but not a single one (other than Mitchell) that you are excited to have on your team.

Quite like that Tyrick Mitchell.

But with Reguilon, Sessegnon and Cirkin - probably not.

Schlupp is not half bad either. Always tends to turn up against us.

And it may sound like heresy, but Benteke is actually scoring this season. Already scored more than his last 3 seasons.

If we need a bench option to Kane that offers something different. Why not go for someone that is a literal free transfer?

I don't think a foreign, 30 year old striker only with a poor record of scoring is the way to go. If Kane goes down no way we want Benteke to start for us so we would still need someone to play striker if Kane is out for anytime.

If we are looking for a cheap, free 3rd choice striker I would go with Dwight Gale. Helps with the HG factor, as good as Benteke if not better. I don't think he helps much, but if we brought in someone to be the back-up striker/starting winger, Gale as 3rd choice to play in early Cup games and EL against the likes of Brentford, Wymcombe, LASK and Wolfberger may work. Not ideal but at least it is a HG spot filled.

Maybe I don't watch enough but isn't Schlupp injured all the time?

I would sign four players from the Chanpionship. Skipp, Dieng (qpr keeper) Olise (Reading) and Aaron’s

get some energy and youth into the squad, save the big bucks for 1 or 2 incoming first teamers

Haha in all seriousness Pope can do one. Good keeper but so poor with the ball at his feet
Genuinely think we should, id love Pope here and Heaton to battle with Hart as number 2 would be great

Id love Pope, Onana has been banned due to drug use & Maignan who we've been linked with is kind of shaky

Not sure who else out their would be first choice for us as I think Lloris is gone

Dmitrovic who id love is available on a free in the summer but I read is going to Atlético Madrid, he's brilliant, a real monster

Based on his game tonight against Milan we should be banging on Roma's door to bring Pau Lopez back to Hotspur Way when Hugo goes.

Despite conceding 2 goals (1 a pen) he was great for Roma.

Great shout, we need to replace Hugo either this summer or next it seems and with Onana chopping away at a year ban, Lopez is as close to the mark when it comes to a Lloris type replacement it seems. Without watching anything of him, granted I can only go based on the following and he seems very agile and able:

Anyone got much info on his consistency and flaws?

- one top quality CB, if possible another second CB of good quality
- CM playmaker, not sold on Sabitzer fulfilling that role. if Alli raises his stock value, think he should be sold.
- RW not as important unless we get rid of Lamela and/or Moura. I dont think we want a post euros Bale, doubt he has the drive anymore and will be 32.
- Need to get a good backup LWF/CF. Vinicius is too limited for the role
- young GK starter. lloris will only keep declining.
-RB if available else keep fasting and praying (or whatever works) for Aurier to keep his sensibilities.

Maybe I'm deluded, but I would say we are challenging for top 4 this season (I think we will go on a bit of a run now). CB is by far our biggest weakness so if we got two in I'd say its a bit defeatist to say that would make us challenge for top 4.

The way I see it, there are four key deficiencies in our squad. Right back, the two centre backs and AM. We may already have the cure to our number 10 issues if one of Dele or GLC is back up to speed next season so it's in defence we need to strengthen. I actually think the rest of our starting line up are good enough outside of those areas to be in a team challenging for a title. Hugo is the other question mark but looking at the other keepers out there I don't think there are too many attainable ones better than him.

Roma has to have one of the best GK coaching crew in the world

Hr has been in and out and is far from good enough to start for us, Mirante is better
