Cristian Romero’s suitcase is too full to fit a copy of an English dictionary. He has called Levy to upgrade his flight to Economy plus so he’s allowed to bring hand luggage.

His transfer is now a mere half a step away from finalisation.

Deal seems to be getting closer and closer

Who needs Sky Sports when we have me?

Leicester are basically Spurs with arguably better management (and who got really, really, lucky one season). There's almost negligible difference in our approaches. But, importantly I think, they got bought out later than we did. I think of it like NZ vs UK, they took over virgin territory with lessons learned from history, less bullshit to deal with and smarter choices.

[On that note, I will agree that Levy continues to make the same stupid mistake: not buying when we need that extra push.]

Leicester have also been luckier (more shrewd?) with their purchases. Tielemans was a great buy and one we were interested in. We got sneezy and dopey instead (kidding, still got hope for those guys!).

Liverpool were a bigger club than us and so they bought talent we couldn't afford. Also attracted a great manager (Klopp).

I'm not trying to argue that your point is wrong, btw, it's not. But it's not clear that ENIC and Levy have done something fundamentally stupid or wrong (except the need for a push now and again when it's seemingly going well - that's man-management and not Levy's forté). At least, it hasn't been proven to me one way or another. I'm upset at our situation too (the conte shit was a piss-taking fucking insult and I don't even live in London any more, so am not even getting an ST).

However, as a business-owner, what Levy did there was the right thing. ensuring investment to survive and afford a better season this season. If the football is good and we don't get shafted then no harm, no foul. Hard to see it that way right now, of course.

I honestly think that without Covid, we'd have been gaining further ground on our rivals with these 'portfolio investments' and that would give us the clout to invest in players at a level we see ourselves. Sadly, this is a couple of years behind now.

while I’d agree that Liverpool are a bigger club, I don’t think that’s the reason they’ve had better recent success. They sold their star for big money and then made excellent use with the money. They also signed good players who fit their style and turned them into elite players. Being a bigger club isn’t a reason they have TAA, Robertson, Mane, Salah, Firmino, had Wiljnaldum, etc. They just had a better coach and made better signings. They are a good example of not valueing your star above the whole team and constructing a team that really fits with your identity. I’d love to keep Kane but holding on too long and not moving our players a year early rather than a year late is what got us into this mess.

Kane is unique and a good example of why homegrown players are a burden not a blessing.

He wants the PL record for goals which he can't do abroad.
Transfer fees have, or had, gone mental so his value is seemingly high.
If he was a foreign player we could surely palm him off abroad somewhere but he will only go to an English club.
Not only that but as if stands, only one club want him and he wants them.
What we actually need is Chelsea or United to start a bidding war.

Let's flip it round though. Some people on here have moaned that Atalanta aren't being fair by holding put for more money for Romero.
Some fans saying they should just let him go.
What's the difference?
1. We didn't tap up Romero
2. We contacted the club, were allowed to speak to Romero and worked out personal terms.
3. We made an offer, thereby opening up negotiations.
4. We've eventually reached an agreement, allegedly, that Atalanta are happy with.

Apart from them, no difference whatsoever.

Totally agreed with this.

I guess it is some weird kind of coping mechanism but on some weird level I'd be open to see Kane sold for 160 mEUR. He is obviously best striker I've seen to play for Spurs. He is world class and has ability to read and influence the game on another level to others.

But people focus too much on Harry Kane situation and too little on Tottenham Hotspur situation. If player wants to go we have to make sure he leaves on terms which is acceptable for us + we have to act wisely in replacing him.
Euros?
That’s about 136 mill English pounds. No discounts here

Coutinho was a very good player for Pool. Not sure if he was their best. He did not have the standing in the team that Kane has with us. They sold him because they got an absolutely ridiculous bid from Barca. It was akin to us getting 200m plus offer from City...and we would sell as well.
He has been crap for Barca, loaned out to Bayern, can’t get a game.
We all know that if Kane goes to city he will be a success, unless his ankles collapse.

Are you two having a laugh?
It's like saying a wife beater has been made to look good because his mrs has dumped him for a decent bloke.

Levy is a massive greedy cunt who's only goal is to make as much money put of OUR club as possible.

Build a "world class stadium" - and make as much as possible every year whilst paying back as little as possible in the process.

Hype the academy to either use or sell as many players to save/make money.

Buy up land and build money making facilities on them.

All whilst barely breaking even every single window for 20 years

You’re being a bit naive if you think we didn’t tap him up.. everybody does it. We speak to the agent to see if he would come and what sort of wages we would offer. If the player turns round and says..no I want go to Spain , never going to PL...saves a lot of messing about

Dude, it's not like he's pocketing the transfer fees! They go back into the club in the form of buying players, paying more competitive salaries, improving infrastructure. So yeah, he should try to make as much money out of transfers as possible!
They will just about go back into the club.
Another year of shuffling the pack and hoping for lucky win. We never add to the pack.

Deal seems to be getting closer and closer

How can this be news at all?
Oh, a player is ready to fly out to join his club once a deal is completed. That's why a player signs for another club in the first place, and thousands of players do that every year.
True, he could take the train, or car or bus or boat or horse (or any other means of transport I did not include) - but I doubt that's the point the reporting is trying to make.

Maybe.

The fact remains that the actual evidence we have is that we've conducted ourselves professionally in the transfer, as has Romero.

City and Kane on the other hand ...

Agree for the most part, but in the case of some players don't forget Pool also offered much better salaries than us.

Hey folks, I've got some hot one-time only ITK about the Romero transfer.

It's done. To be announced in the next four days. Don't ask me how I know this; if I shared too much info it could burn my friend, etc.

Positive ratings expected/demanded. If there are any negative ratings then I won't ever give you hot ITK ever again.

Another ITK from SC. At first, I thought he was a "1tier" ITK but he's a "5 tier".
I still believe that Kound joining Spurs is almost impossible since Chelski is known to meet the asking price if they're after a player.
However, I hope this is not another Chelski trick: pretending Spurs have a chance to sign a player, let it drag on, on for them to pounce and sign Kounde with little time left in the transfer window to find another quality CB. Just speculation but we know Chelski is capable of such antics.
