We are in danger of sleepwalking into this season. Assuming we lose Kane and Bale. That's 40+ goals and assists right away. So far we have absolutely fuck all in place to replace that output. If Kane goes who do they have lined up to come in? Ideally you want somebody in first before you sell him but there is little chance of that.

Even if Kane stays it will cast a shadow over the entire season and he'll jog about trying to avoid injuring himself before he can fuck off next summer.

3 weeks and we need at least 3-4 first quality first team players, plus all of our shite like Winks and Sissoko are still here and unlikely to be moved out because nobody wants them. I am getting 2008 vibes all over again here..
It’s not three weeks - it’s ten days

That's fair, I already conceded there is a 1% chance of Villa finishing "comfortably above" Spurs, so I should change the original post for posterity. I guess I could have had a nuanced discussion about why I think the odds of Villa finishing above Spurs is low, but I was late for a meeting.

In any case, I just don't see that happening under any scenario where Grealish leaves and either Kane stays or we buy another striker if Kane gets sold.

hear this kinda bs every summer.

bedwetters.
Not sure you've been paying attention but last season we finished below West Ham.

Villa are doing business efficiently.

We are standing still

i would take madueke, vlahovic, we need a playmaker too not many about but christ we need a player hwo can pass a ball and slice teams open,
We do need someone on the right and up top, just can't be expecting current outgoings to fund it. It's one of three things happening:

1) Spurs win loads of silverware and run away with the league this season under Nuno, matching Kane's ambition, securing his long term future at Spurs as well as Champions League football. I rate this as less likely to happen than Villa finishing comfortably above Spurs.
2) Kane stays, bangs in goals, Spurs finish somewhere in the European places and Kane fucks off to City. This seems most likely as of today.
3) Kane fucks off to City this summer for a shitload of cash.

In all 3 of those cases, Spurs have a lot of money either now or next season, so may as well spend it now to improve the team now and set things up better for the future.
