It’s not 20 million extra, we are paying that to Jose if he stays or goes that money isn’t going into transfers either way. It’s the 5 million extra you would worry about and that isn’t buying us much, if anything.

I've basically reached the acceptance phase with the fact that Sissoko & winks are never ever leaving

Actually that's the season the stadium debt get's paid off.

The final number will depend on the salary of the new manager.
Mourinho has a contract till 2023, so if we fire him at the end of this season we would still have to pay him £30m. That is an unavoidable cost.
The additional cost would be the cost of buying out/signing a new manager and the new manager's salary for the two seasons. Example, £5m buyout + £10m per year salary = £25m.
That £25m is what could have gone into the transfer. It's the difference between a £25m player vs a £50m player.
That 10 million salary still seems like a lot of money.
That also assumes that Levy is operating in a world where the money for a manager comes out of the money for players.
Even with the overblown values and assuming Levy directly takes the money from the potential transfer budget still worth it, without a doubt.
Agreed. These really young deals aren't sexy but the more we do the more are likely to pay off bigly down the line.
It's interesting to consider the loss/gain in other ways too: how much do we miss out on if we finish outside the top 4 (and don't win the EL) vs getting someone in to stop the rot ASAP?
I think, however, that's a moot point as Mourinho will almost certainly be given until the end of the season and I highly doubt we'd get anything other than a caretaker manager between now and then.

It wouldnt be a lump sum payment. We would continue paying him as per his present arrangements. If he gets another job, we can deduct what he is earning there from our payments, or if its more stop paying completely.
So whilst it will definitely be expensive, may well not be the full £30m. And not straight away.
Mate at the rate we are going we are going to be a club that takes PL loans not makes them.
If that were the case Rangnick has a zero pound buyout and doubtful he would cost 10 million a year.
Parker and Potter each would have a small buyout and nowhere near a 10 million salary either.
If we are paying anything close to 25 million we are getting a world class manager, likely Nagelsmann that is going to be worth every penny we pay with the upgrade he will provide over Jose.
We all know we need a massive number of player going out and a huge number coming in.

And then he will become our midfield coach.
He will teach our young players how to control the ball, how to move into space and receive it and how to pass and shoot....
My concern is that Levy, as he has in the past, is going to worry too much about getting what he thinks is fair value in return for what he paid for guys when the reality is just moving them out is as important as getting top dollar for them.
The squad is bloated with mediocre players that are not good enough. We need to get rid of Winks, Sissoko, Aurier, Dier, Sanchez, Moura, Lamela, Dele, Hart at a minimum with Davies, Doherty also more than capable of leaving as well but I am ok keeping them as back-ups if needed.
That is 9 guys that really need to go for any price, 9 guys not helping the team, 9 guys with no role here at all. I know it looks like a lot but moving them out improves us immediately. Even if all we bring in are cheaper options we are better off.
We desperately need to stop taking half measures and pull off the band aid and move out the slop.
