We just need some players from Benfica now to really get things moving...

Already said this once, but I'll say it again...Horseshit. People like to give Dier stick, but in reality he's a slightly above average player. Shouldn't be a starter, but he's versatile and he's a good guy to have around if someone is injured and to play against lesser teams.
How often are you there in person watching him fuck things up??
The camera on television games is not the same as seeing what is going on out of shot.
Highlights rarely show mistakes when it doesn't result in a goal.

As I've said, I'm not against selling.

I'm against just folding at the first sign a player/club press us and just giving them what they want.

It's a costly thing to do, something you'll be paying for for years.

If he goes, it must be on our terms. And it must cost him and city, it needs to be clear it's not easy to just poach our players for whatever you're prepared to offer.

Biggest deal the club has ever done and likely will be for years to come.....

We should make an example; not an exception.....

I honestly don't think that's coping. I fully believe that 150m or so for Kane spent wisely can make us a more balanced team than we currently are. It was great watching him top the PL goals and assists last season but that isn't sustainable - we need creativity all over the pitch and goals from various sources.

In the PL for 20/21 we had Kane scoring 23 goals and Sonny scoring 17 - but look at how fucking awful we were overall. Who was Chelsea's top goalscorer?..

Jorginho. On sodding penalty duty. With 7.

Just for the record: we scored 10 more goals than the Chavs last season.

Sorry, it was a colonisation allegory from my time with a bunch of kiwis in London. We were agreed that NZ was well-run because they started from scratch (kinda) when they went over there, instead of having to deal with legions of entrenched 'families' and positions of power that were inherited and meritless.

All things being equal, it's easier to make smart decisions when you have the examples of other's failures.
I kinda...follow...but I certainly don't agree, and neither would the Moari. Especially on the whole Virgin from scratch analysis. Plus there's the whole 4.9 million people vs 63.5 million crazy comparison thing. Still guess thats for another time/ thread Apologies.

The Tomiyasu news has gone quiet hasn't it. Appreciate he has been at the Olympics, but then again so has Gil. Would be good to get that deal done too, then move on to a striker.

Coutinho was a very good player for Pool. Not sure if he was their best. He did not have the standing in the team that Kane has with us. They sold him because they got an absolutely ridiculous bid from Barca. It was akin to us getting 200m plus offer from City...and we would sell as well.
He has been crap for Barca, loaned out to Bayern, can’t get a game.
We all know that if Kane goes to city he will be a success, unless his ankles collapse.

The fact that they got that astronomical fee so soon after the 70m for Suarez was pivotal for them as they had fuck load of costly deadwood after the Dalglish and Rogers days and even then they still signed expensive duffers like Ox-Ch and Kieta under Klopp.... The purse strings were very much on the brink of being tied shut As it is, ever since their success they've spent very little since too.
