The list of players we've tried and failed to land over the years is endless.
Those we just couldn't squeeze over the line.

Sometimes, when something happens with alarming regularity over, like , 2 decades, maybe the real conspiracy theory is that it's all just coincidence or somehow Spursy and unique to us.

Talking of which, do you think Levy's interest in appointing Antonio Conte and tempting Poch away from PSG was also genuine?

What about his inspirational speech about returning to our core DNA and attacking football. Genuine?

How about pulling the wool over our eyes, to use your own phrase, regarding the ESL. Another cospiracy theory i suppose?...

Surely you can understand why so many of us are sceptical

You can whine like stuck pig about 2018 but to pretend that since the opening of the new stadium there hasn't been a MASSIVE increase in player funds - that's not scepticism it's just flat out lying.

Totally agree. It’s as good as done let’s be honest. When does Pep ever talk about transfers like he did the other day ? Never. I guess we will find out Sunday. If Kane plays no part then 100% it’s done. If he plays, then it’s not as close as we think. I personally think it’s done and the whole saga stinks
I still think (hope) he'll stay.
I can't see City spending that amount of money to get him.

If he plays no part on Sunday, it means nothing.
He's only just back to training.
The same way a lot of players won't be playing a part in the first few games for their club due to euros, copa America and the Olympics.
(See Messi at PSG, for example)

People are saying "We're spending the Kane money", but there's been no credible reports of us actually bidding for anyone.

In real terms we've spent about a tenner so far this window.

Ffs that was 2003!!

They're a much, much, much bigger money making machine now. In much the same way Spurs are.
Abramovic pumped loads of his money in but they're now making legitimate income. That doesn't suddenly stop when leaves.
Not that he's going to so it's best to get over it.

This jealousy that some Spurs fans have over Chelsea over taking us is fucking embarrassing.
Sleepless night or something?

I thought we were having a reasonable discussion here and you go on the attack?

Do you react to every differing point of view like this?

You're all entitled to be skeptical but you're conflating the pre new stadium years with the last 3-4 years. We've spent quite a bit of money on Sanchez, Ndombele, Lo Celso, Romero. All deals that everyone was moaning about them just being Levy throwing us a bone and "ffs Levy, get it done" and the usual whining. Well they got done. And some others didn't. It's the same for all teams. Now whether they worked out or not, that's a different story.

Argue about our scouting dept sucking at identifying players and I'll agree with you. But I don't agree that we're not trying to bring quality players in. Especially the last 3-4 years.

Jealousy??????

Jeeezus! ....You're the one that's been brown-nosing them for the last god knows how many pages!

Oh please

Why are City prepared to let him go I wonder?

It's obvious.
Go on...

Although it should never be forgotten how you and a couple of others cooed about that decision at the time...
A scandelous, disgraceful, cowardly dereliction of duty towards our football team that we're still paying for today, and will be paying for for years to come.

That so many of our own fans at the time at best failed to condemn it, and at worst actively supported it, still sends a shiver up my spine to this very day.

How wisely has some of this money been spent though? Doherty surplus to requirements already.
Clarke never going to be a first teamer. 7.50m in loan fees, that's 35.1 million wasted. Others would say a lot more has been wasted than that.
