And I disagree that the idea that buying up these clubs hasn't bought them some legitimacy and popular press in the West.
Leaving aside whether that’s the motivation or not, on net surely these projects have been a net negative for the image of these regimes. The Qatar World Cup worst of all. (Well, MBS having that Washington Post reporter chopped to pieces in a Turkish consulate was probably worst of all, but there ya go.)

Recognizing and normalizing relations with Israel is their go-to move for legitimacy and popular press in the West. Because again, their patron is the American defense industry, not European politics.

.....But better than you predicted, yes?
Hmm. Yes and no.

Granted we didn't sell Kane and not bring in a replacement. Happy to be wrong about that.

Personally I think we needed a backup striker, another CB, and a creative midfielder. I'm not happy to see Winks still on the payroll.

More positively it looks like we have brought in two starting defenders that appear to be high quality, and Bryan looks like an exciting prospect.

So better than you predicted then. :)

OUT: Abraham (£36m) Zouma (£31.5m) Tomori (£26.28m) and a couple players out on loan.

IN: Lukaku (£103.5m) and Saul on loan.

Tammy Abraham being worth £36m is an absolute joke. Clearly Jose doing his former club a favour.
I'll never quite understand how Chelsea repeatedly seem able to sell average players at very good prices.

Dodgy figures without real oversight and accountability.

I honestly expect that a close accounting of some deals would reveal kickbacks and all sorts of diverted funds into private hands.

I mean Daniel James to Leeds for 25 mill on a couple years after United bought him for 16mill.

How ? Makes no sense. Has to be some kind of money laundering book-cooking.
