No point in loaning him back to Spain. We should look to loan him to an English club, either in the EPL or in the Championship.
It depends.

If Conte thinks Gil will never be strong & physical enough to play for his team in the PL, then La Liga may be a good move because it will enable Bryan to showcase his technical & creative abilities.

If Conte thinks Gil has a Spurs future, then a move to an English club is preferable.

In the flashes we saw, Gil was technically very good and has real footballing intelligence. So he could become a Kulu-type player. But that footballing intelligence could be wasted if we loan him to a club full of cloggers.

Kulu is big and strong though. While he's technically fantastic, I don't think Gil could play the style that Kulu does

Modric is little, but he became physically stronger over time.

He also learnt how to protect himself & the ball in part because he was never the biggest or strongest player on the field.

Gil and Kulu both have footballing intelligence, like Luka and Eriksen.

Players can train to get stronger & fitter. But footballing intelligence is much harder to coach.

His club then, Dinamo Zagreb, sent him out on loan to HŠK Zrinjski Mostar in the Bosnian league, for a season, to toughen him up. And it certainly worked for Modric...so maybe Spurs could use the same tactics with Gil and Ndombele (i.e. loan them out to HŠK Zrinjski Mostar)

Yup. I remember reading about that, Luka saying how he learnt to avoid the flying boots.

And of course when he first played for us, Redknapp started him on the left side of a midfield 4, with licence to move inside when we had possession. But that probably helped him get used to the pace & physicality of the English game.

I haven’t seen any good statistics on Lenglet’s errors so maybe he does have a concentration problem.

But the volume of positive output is not just good but elite and you’d never know that listening to people bore on. That’s not misleading it’s true.

Reputation is curious. Son (at least until pat few months) has been underrated because he doesn’t play for a glamorous club. He’s top class. And Ronaldo still finds himself in contention for awards despite not being that good - reputation is sticky. Also look at what Juve fans said about Bentancur and Kulu.

Fans are dumb as shit (because people are) and their opinions are swayed by incidents that are easy to recall (well know human bias) rather than consistent value.

I think under Conte and in a back 3 this will be a great signing and incredible value. I’ve said it and if I’m wrong then I’ll own it. :)

Because when people criticize him they aren't talking about whether he's good on the ball or not. They're criticizing the fact he gave more penalties away than any other Barcelona player in 20/21, or his clumsy own goals, or the losses of concentration which enabled a player to peel off him and score. Again, you can't judge a CB by stats. He may win most of his tackles, aerial duels & progress the ball well but if he gives away goals then it's a killer.

This isn't just a fan opinion thing, he's been dropped by Barcelona despite them not having particularly prodigious center backs. This is a chance for him to rescue his career & we've given it to him because of a lack of available LCB's on the market. I think there's a high chance of him being a success within this system if he can clear his head. Obviously at Barca at some point he suffered a loss of confidence and hasn't mentally recovered.

The football intelligence will not go away. But if we loan him to a club full of cloggers in the PL the acclimatization to the league will help a lot. Else he will just be a player with football intelligence who cannot hack it at PL level. I'd rather we get him up to PL standards so he can be a useful player for us. He has David Silva potential, if what I have been reading about him is accurate,
