A bit, as you call it, sure. But adjust the markets towards that marker, no chance!

Ronaldo was what 80-90m in 2009. Bale was a bit more in 2013. Since Neymar's transfer there's been a handfull of transfer surpassing those two. They've, bar Mbappe, all been a lot closer to the 100m marker, than the 200m ditto that PSG set with Neymar (and partly Mbappe). 100m is more natural (football) inflation than Neymar's move changing anything.

You can argue whether Griezmann, Felix etc are Neymar quality, but there's no chance that Neymar - even commercial interest in mind - is twice the valuable a signing as them.

Who care if he’s 80M? We are quids in after signing Kulu for 30M… same age as players like Foden and Saka who are worth 100M and on a par with both

No it’s not. At some point we need to take a few risks… Savic is far more likely to flourish coming into a settled side on an upward curve. Don’t wait until we are panic buying and all momentum is lost eg GLC/Ndombele. If that money was spent 2 years earlier, the outcome would have likely been v different

The is baseless hypothesis.....

GLC & Ndombele didn't bomb cos we panicked (we didn't!). We could have just as easily pissed 100m up the wall the summer before (130m if you count Sess).

Nor does buying B'cur & Kulu mean that we can or should be throwing 80m+ about on individual players.

You're just tossing around convenient, yet hollow rhetoric that sounds good purely cos it props up what you want.

If we are to get the 3 - 5 top grade players most would conceed we need in the summer, then blowing 80m on 1 individual player lessens the chance of that happening.

We need to be smart.

We're not blowing 80m on SM-S and then laying out another 50m per pop on another 4 players; nor is it reasonable to demand that we do so.
