This can be true.
But was not case yesterday.

Yesterday ball was moved to CM with ease... and it never travelled past CM position.
West Ham kept backing off, backing off knowing fully well that our CM does not possess any goal threat and very little chance creation as well. And this is how they kept us on xG of 0,72.

Yesterday more creative and dynamic passer in the middle would have done world of difference.
The own goal counts as 0.00 xG and if it’s not played for an Og than son has a tap in at probably 0.70 xG minimum so we really created more than that number.

but hang on,

1, we bought a RWB and now we have 3 of them. much as would have loved to spend 70M on Hakami he was never coming and we prob couldn't get rid of Emerson or Royal.

2. We were never gonna buy a creative mid, Conte doesn't play like that. a winger, yeah, maybe but who? they'd need to be (a) better than Lucas and (b) willing to rotate, (c) not cost an insane amount of money - because it's a squad dept position, Kulusevski has that position sewn up.
Son had lwb sewn up. Now look at Richarlison.

Competition is healthy and necessary for contenders.

Let's hope Conte and the team solve the issues because right now we are short in area's and lack spark.
It looks like Nuno and Jose ball again just passing it around hoping for something to materialise very turgid and boring so far

He's part of the group of 4 CMs and I think that'll be enough. Plus Sarr as a backup. (Sarr is bound to get loaned out in January)
I would've liked a new AM that is able to drop back into CM if needed, and good enough to play wide too. Someone like Eriksen.
I agree with you about wanting a AM who could go wide if necessary. Spurs seem to have a number of good midfielders with similar attributes. For example, Bissouma seems like a better replacement for Hojbjerg than a compliment to him. If I were deciding on a midfielder to bring in I'd want someone more like Eriksen, but there aren't so many of those type players available at an affordable price. If there's a weak point to what's been done so far it's mainly that they haven't moved enough players (in terms of return) to be able to afford the sort of midfielder they need to bring in.

We have depth, options and a dozen of those under 26. We are in a far better position than many realise and have more than enough to challenge for top 3 or 4 in the league, to push for a cup and to have a great Champions League run. From this time a year ago I doubt there is anyone that wouldn't be delighted with that being the case.

1st window seems done. Get behind the boys, the gaffer said 2 more windows required so let's focus on each game at a time and knowing we have more genuine depth than most teams in the league do in a season where depth will be crucial.
