Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I'm really hoping for something this summer. I think we all are.

I was just thinking about the scenario of a new player and his agent visiting Spurs. Up the driveway, through the gates of the Lodge. Escorted around the training grounds by the charismatic Conte. Given a good talking to, then on to the stadium.

It would be quite a day for you.

His delivery is great as it is. His defending and positioning need improvement, and there's no better manager at coaching that for a WB than Conte.
I wouldn't at all say his delivery is great. I've seen him put great balls into the box, but his crossing when on the run could be a lot better and often scuffs/weakly strikes his low cutbacks. Happy enough for us to sign him, but don't think signing him improves us massively for the coming season.

Rodon should be cover for Dier, as Conte mentioned at some point.

I mean, don't get me wrong - I would not have anything to have another Romeroesque player in the defense... But my point was that this should not be highest in the list of priorities. I see that two wingbacks both are where we are hurting more, even if Sess is stepping up. We also desperately need very strong CM player who could progress the ball quicker (but would be able to support defense as well) and then we still seem to have only 3 players for 3 attacking roles - Moura has no end product and Bergwijn is not trusted (and most likely off).

So if I would put it list of priorities, it would be -
1) press-resistent CM with strong progressive passing game
2) RWB
3) LWB
4) another ST / or someone who could play across front-line
5) another LCB

I honestly feel that as net-effect, those 4 roles will benefit team more across the season than LCB.
But I can respect different opinions as well.
Agree. We need cover at CB, whether it’s for Davies, Dier or Romero doesn’t have to be LCB IMO

Personally I would keep Bergwijn and scrub 4.

Cocaine and brasses to finish up in the plushest exec box

Thought so.

So let's scrap the trophyless wankers that are Kane and Son to bring in superstars such as Bellingham and ... every PSG / Bayern players. Only cause they have won more trophies.

Kind of slippery slope if you ask me.

I was asked directly what he had accomplished which Bissouma hadn’t. I don’t really care what trophies a player has won.

Trophies are a team award and Kane/Son would have won them at a different team. Doesn’t change the fact that Bellingham was part of a team effort to win one.

Who is Djed Spence?

Weaknesses
  • Awareness on and off ball
  • Defensive positioning
  • Passing

Don't get me wrong, one of the priorities for this window is to secure one or two home-grown players, but I've just about had it with defenders that never worked on how to you know... actually defend.

Ok guys... disagree on any comment I make but please reply why you disagree as I put more than one point in most posts I make so I'm not sure which bit you don't agree with and I may agree with you once you've put your point across.
Cheers

I think Spence is good enough for the Premier League, but not good enough for a club that wants be be top 4 every season. I think he has the capability to become a good defender, but just hasn't been coached up to defend. Buying him and loaning him out to a club in the bottom half of the league for a couple of seasons could do him a world of good, but I don't think that it makes sense to do that when we are looking for wingbacks that can start on day one.

I'd love to visit the Lodge, it looks really quite amazing. I know we joke about the world class facilities on here, but I have no doubt it could only leave a positive impression on you as a player on the brink of a transfer.

Yeh, can't say I've seen much of him, but it reeks of another project player..... If we're dead keen on him for the future then fine; sign him and loan him back out, but we still need a game-changer who's ready to hit the ground running.

I've liked him for a while (him and Brennan Johnson) but yeah, he's not ready yet. Very raw skillset, loads of potential because he has the physical tools, but a lot to learn at both ends of the pitch to be a CL level wing back.

If we were turfing out both Doherty & Emerson and signing a backup AND starting wing back then it would make sense, but we won't. If we sign Spence that would be our sole RWB signing and that would be really underwhelming.

BOSS NEWBIE + Spence
BOSS NEWBIE + Doherty
BOSS NEWBIE + Emerson (IF that's what Conte wants)

....but not Spence + MD or ER.
