we need at least 3 new STARTING players for the first 11.
At the very least that's what we need to in the summer.
If you actually look at where we need improving or even just squad depth I'd say it would be:

Backup GK (assuming the option isnt taken on Gollini)
CB
RWB
CM
ST

You could even make a case for considering another WB signing given they are crucial to Conte's system and another creative mid or forward.

Hard to see how we are going to get 5-7 quality players in one window.
Plus the scouting department are going to pretty much have to hit on every single one of those signings to make sure the team improves and their record is woeful in the last few years.

It would also mean Levy stumping up £200mil or more as well to bring in the right players.

Two competitive centre midfielders are an absolute must. Preferably premier league proven. I won't hold my breath.

Absolutely MUST move on Davies and Doherty and get in a proper RWB and a left sided centre back.

This would be scratching the surface really. Could do with a LWB and a number 10. Not to mention getting rid of shite like Sanchez/Rodon.

Going to be a long, painful process.

5 imo. RWB, at least 1 centre back, 2 central midfielders and a wing forward type that could maybe cover Kane as well. Then another 3 or 4 younger back ups. Chances of that lot close to zero.
realistically we are not getting 5 new starters. In an ideal world for me it would be:

-------------------new--------------------
-----Romero----new------new--------
new--------------------------------Reggie
-------Bentancur---new---Skipp------
----------------Kane--Son----------------

or

-------------------new------------------
-------Romero---new---new--------
new------------------------------Reggie
---------new----Skipp/bentancur----
-----new-------------------------Son--
--------------------Kane---------------

but that's dream world and neither are going to happen.

Lloris is staying as a starter so that's that and Dier tbh has done enough to justify a starring position next year so.....

--------------Lloris-------------
---Romero--Dier---New----
New---------------------Reggie
---Bentancur/Skipp--new---
--new---------------------Son--
-------------Kane--------------

or

----------------Lloris--------------
----Romero---Dier----new-----
new-------------------------Reggie
------Bentancur--new--Skipp---
--------------Kane---Son----------

sell
Doherty (I would sell Royal as well but realistically we are not getting 2 rwb's), Sanchez or Rodon, Tanganga, Winks, Lo Celso and N'dombele. Think we will also sell one of Bergwijn or Gil as well tbh.

So
Lloris
new back up Gk
third keeper

New RWB
Emerson

Reggie
Sess

Romero
Dier
New Cb
Davies
Rodon or Sanchez

Bentancur
Skipp
Hojbjerg
New
Sarr

Son
Kane
Lucas
Kulusevski
New right or left sided attacker
Bergwijn or Gil
New back up striker

24 man squad. Likelihood is that they will see that as to much so will probably either loan out Sarr or sell BOTH Gil and Bergwijn.

RWB, LCB, CM, ST2, GK2 - Essential.

Then see who else we can improve upon (If they replace 1st teamers then the player they replace subsequently drops to the bench. If they're bench players they get sold.)

Good short post.

Yep that's it assuming others stay.

To anyone who says we need a complete overhaul get a grip.

It will take time but it absolutely needs 3 or 4 definite starters or forget it.

We are ridden with inconsistency and players that are Just not good enough but let's not start asking for 10 players. Plainly daft.

Aaron Wan Bisska anyone? I know he's been struggling at Man Utd. but maybe - repeating maybe - he could improve under other circumstances - which Walker-Peters is an example of. KWP failed to impress 3 head-coaches - as well as the fans - but now he's doing well at Soton.

Wan-Bissaka for sale in summer
Manchester United will sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the summer, according to reports.
TEAMtalk understand that Ralf Rangnick is set to offload the full-back when he moves upstairs at the end of the season.
The ex-Crystal Palace man has been playing second fiddle to Diogo Dalot since the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November.

Konrad Laimer would be a great addition. Almost the best we could hope for in that position imo. He'd walk into our first team. Very good presser, excellent at winning possession and great at moving the ball forwards. He's what we hoped Højbjerg would be. Get rid of Winks and possibly Højbjerg.

As unlikely as it is, Ward-Prowse would be perfect. We're dying for a dead ball specialist, if I have to see Kane take one more fucking free kick I might just end it all. He's also someone who will create chances, which we're desperate for.

We should be going all out to sign Sven Botman. He looks the shit. Young and comparatively affordable. Left footed. Move Davies on (just because he's being played out of position and is not a proper CB imo). We can't be letting fucking Newcastle sign him. It's not even up for debate. We need him.

Quality right back options are scarce. Trippier would have been the perfect option but ego and truly horrific business sense in letting him go in the first place fucked that up. I really don't know who we should get, but it's clear that neither Emerson or Doherty are of the required standard. Both must leave in the summer.

We need a centre forward. There's a pretty high chance that Kane will want to leave again in the summer, I doubt he'll be allowed but even with him staying here, we need a back up. As he has proven this season, we can't rely on him to score every week. He needs help.

A load of deadwood needs to be axed too. We all know who they are.

might as well persist with Emerson, he is atleast solid in defending. AWB is hopeless in both attack and defence

He hasn't improved or developed even a little bit at United. He is I think worse than Emerson.

In my opinion:

Hugo
Romero - Dier - LCB
RWB
- Bentancur - CM - LWB
Kulu - Kane - Son

LCB and RWB are the absolute priorities for me. But I also think we need to give Skippy time, I feel there's too much pressure on the young lad. And his duo with Bentancur isn't creative enough, so for me he's no automatic starter. At LWB, if Reggy stays, then fine...but I'd still prefer an upgrade. Same applies with Eric.

So 2 new starters for sure and a potential 3 others wouldn't be a terrible idea...but I really doubt we'll get 5 new starters.

The bench is where a lot of work is required too, both ins and outs

I don't think many fans want Gollini to stay at Spurs, and Austin & Alfie are probably better off leaving too...so for me we need a new #2 and I'd promote one of the academy kids for #3.

CB - for sure a LCB, but could also look to upgrade Dier. And let's hope Romero justifies his price tag, which he's some way off of doing so far...

RWB x 2...and I'd say LWB x 1 (at least).

CM & ST, totally my friend.

I think there's hope on the money front cause if we sold Sanch, Tanguy, Lo Celso, Winksy, and Bergy or Lucas...plus we should also start seeing some of the Dele cash come through from EFC....that'd put a bit of dosh in the coffers

The other question is what this also does for the squad dynamics and even if that many players will leave and be replaced.

If it does end up being 5-10 out the door and a similar number in, there's surely going to be another transitional period because it's almost a new team.

The more you look at it, it's obvious the issues we currently have are unlikely to be solved in the summer window alone. Just have to hope that Conte wants to be part of a longer rebuild.

The worst thing that could happen would be bringing in players to fit Conte's system and then him disappearing early next season and having to start the process all over again

Livramento and Kalajdzic links are making the rounds today.

Chelsea have a £35 mil buy back clause on Livramento.... for 2023. So if their new owner situation puts them in situ this summer would be when to pounce.

Sasa Kalajdzic would be a nice option for Kane. A tall mobile target man who is still young and with room to improve. Had a brilliant Bundesliga season in 2020-21. But like the rest of Stuttgart are having a rougher go of it this season.
