Lol, Lautaro is genuinely a top 10 striker in world football and still hasn’t hit his peak years. If you can get him, you get him and figure out the exact tactics later. Especially when you have a world class manager who has coached him previously at the helm.
We happen to have a top 1 striker in world football (though I'll admit this Benzema fellow is having quite a purple patch this season), we also have better positions to invest 90 million Euros than a rotation striker.

He can play with Kane. Conte's preferred formation is 3-5-2 and may very well want the ability to play that.

Also, Lautaro is by far the best player we've linked with, honestly in many years. I’d rather have a 77m pound world class attacker than spread that around on punts for rotation players.

So we'll bench Son and Kulusveski for this guy who may or may not adapt to the Premier League? I thought the whole plan was to buy a rotation forward who can play across the frontline?

He rotates with those three just as a Richarlison would if we signed him. The only difference is that as part of the rotation you tweak your formation.

I have to assume some of you haven't watched much Lautaro. This would be nearly a Haaland-level signing, their numbers are pretty similar over the last few years. Signing Lautaro put us in the title conversation. You win titles and European trophies with elite goalscoring and we'd have that as much as anyone in the world with Kane, Son, Lautaro, and Kulusevski.

My guess:

1) Viera to spurs rumor was leaked toward the end of Woolwich negotiation in order to get them stop screwing around and pay up.

2) Lauturo to Spurs rumor is the same thing, but for the Skriniar to PSG deal. Inter needs to sell one big player, but probably only sells one star. Everyone knows Spurs are being aggressive. So PSG is haggling over Skriniar price and someone on the Inter/Skriniar side of the deal leaks that maybe Spurs will swoop in for Martinez, taking Skriniar off the market. Or, alternately, we are close on Richarlison, so we are leaking another option to make Everton take the deal and stop haggling.

Guess we will see, but I do think half of what we read are strategically placed “leaks” to put pressure on one side or another.

As great as Lautaro is, it would be idiotic to bench Kulusevski and Son for him, let alone pay £90M on top of that, and most likely having to buy another midfielder. Add £10M more and we have both Richarlison and Raphinha here, and we are free to change the system every match. Makes much more sense than Lautaro.

He doesn't rotate with them. He can't play in Kulusevski's place, and while he does play in Son's place, he is a very different player to Son.

Exactly. And do we think these players would be happy simply as a rotation option (including Lautaro in that). Given the level of those players they would want to start as many games as possible, else they will be off next summer and we would be back to where we started.

Yes we need to build a squad, but we have to be careful how we do this and manage this going forwards. That is also part of the reason why I think we should keep Lucas. Because he is a very decent player, who can start in certain Cup games and still be happy with the part he plays for the team. That is invaluable IMO.

I think Rich makes more sense than Martinez, he's cheaper, he's settled here, he can play multiple positions, he's proven and we can throw winks into the deal. Martinez might be here for one season and then decides he wants to go back to Italy and 90-100m to buy him. I want us to continue being intelligent with our money.

I’m just wondering if the leaks about this Martinez offer is to ‘encourage’ financially fucked Everton to accept our offer for Richarlison tbh
I think it's more likely that Inter leaked it to get PSG to increase their bid for Skriniar, since it is known they will only sell one of them. Seems to much of a coincidence that this story came out shortly after PSG's bid was rejected.

They're not exactly being forced to transfer work place to a sweatshop in Vietnam, are they. Italian clubs seems to have a quite pragmatic approach to transfer dealings and the players will know that. Granted, moving to a new country is a major thing, and we have to trust that Paraciti and his team would be able to suss out if it'll be a enough to have a negative impact. Personally I don't see a major issue here.
Yes, they are professional people - and (over-)paid very well for their profession - but still, it will impact the motivation and focus of some players in a negative way if they are sold against their will.
But then this can simply be a well-orchestrated Italian drama directed for the purpose of increasing the said players' transfer fee

PS! It's rumored that Conte's pre-season regime is even harsher :D

This Martinez thing is nonsense, he ain't leaving Inter - just get Richarlison who is a better fit across that front line and keep it moving.

Maybe Conte has been listening to Teddy Sheringham, Martinez is the statement signing and the dressing room will be buzzing.

In other news, Christian Gross once bought a ticked at a tube station.
