Transfers Summer 2022 Transfer Thread.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It's in Spanish but it basically says that Spurs have made an offer for Memphis Depay.

We need to stop buying players on the transfer list at bigger clubs. If Depay was good he wouldn’t be for sale. We should have already learned that lesson after we bought Emerson.

We need to be buying the crown jewels from lesser clubs, that’s where we have had most success in the market. Modric from Zagreb, Eriksen from Ajax, Wanyama/Toby from Southampton, Dele from MK Dons,
Dembele from Fulham, we should be buying standout players from smaller teams. Players that opposing fans will not want to sell. Not players that clubs are desperate to get rid of.

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a deal to bring Mamadou Coulibaly to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to a report by Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), who claim that Tottenham, Manchester City, Juventus and AC Milan have all made contact with AS Monaco regarding a move for the 17-year-old central midfielder – who looks set to become available on a free transfer at the end of the season upon the expiry of his current deal with the Ligue 1 side.

To be fair though he's been one of Lyons top players past few seasons, scored 20 league goals for them last season and actually hasn't done badly at barca 10 in 19 in the league, but picked up an injury and they brought in both Aubameyang and Ferran Torres.

In general I agree with your point but I think Depay is definitely an upgrade on Lucas and Bergwijn and probably on Kulusevski too, can play through the middle and behind the main man, so as long as its not crazy money I think he would be a good signing for us.

Depay is already 28 and he seems to have a bit of an attitude problem anyway, so I am not so keen on him.
I do agree with you about buying top talents from "lesser" clubs - although it can be argued whether Ajax is a "lesser" club than Spurs. They certainly have less money but I can't say they're "lesser" than Spurs.
But don't forget that both Bentancur & Kulusevski were players Juve wanted to get rid of.
Lamptey, Livramento, van Bruyne, Lukaku and Salah were all deemed not good enough by Chelski (not that they would have sold us any of those players anyway).
So personally I wouldn't close out the options of buying from the "bigger" clubs.

Think you just need to find the balance and evaluate players correctly. Kulusevski, van der Vaart, James Milner, Martin Odegaard.. for lots of different reasons good players can be deemed surplus to requirements at a big club and go on to be valuable elsewhere. We'll be entering a tricky period if Conte stays on, because he'll want experience. Even the likes of a Livramento or Lamptey who some fans would be excited about, I'm not sure they'd top his list for this summer.

wonder how much gravenberch would cost

we have no hope in getting bellingham but gravenberch is up there talent wise with him

and ajax has always wanted berg could be a deal done there

like timber alot too

For that we need to go back to scouting players properly rather than signing those players pushed the strongest by their agents. Diaz from Porto would have been the perfect example of what you're talking about, but Levy was said to be behind that (according to the Athletic) not Paratici, so who knows.

Depay is also on low wages for a player of his stature, since he agreed to a big paycut to join Barcelona in the summer when their finances were completely down the drain.

His contract also only runs until 2023 so we don't have to buy out a long contract either.

Buying from Ajax has ALWAYS served us well.
