We must get him if their is any truth to this, we will 100% challenge for the league next year

He is like Kante

"He is a high volume presser of the ball and is extremely effective at hassling his opponents when they are in possession and regaining the ball for his team. In fact, he did this better than anybody across the Top Five European Leagues last season."

German tabloid Bild reports that Manchester United and Tottenham are keeping tabs on the 24-year-old.

Manchester United caretaker manager and advisor Ralf Rangnick knows Laimer well from their time together in Leipzig and is said to be pushing for 'The Red Devils' to sign the Austrian international.

Tottenham, meanwhile, have been monitoring Laimer since he featured in Leipzig's 4-0 aggregate Champions League round of 16 aggregate victory over Spurs in 2020.

Laimer's contract expires in 2023, and his future is currently up in the air, according to Bild, who claims he will hold talks with Leipzig after the end of the season

I've watched him since he destroyed us in the CL, he has since had a big injury and came back but he really is like Kante

He is rapid & can run for days

If we continue this 2 midfielder formation he is perfect

The crazy talk money for English players is a massive issue as the silly talk Philips money suggests. However you know we need a mobile good in the air left centerback...lads....its Marc Guehi at Palace. He is perfect for us think we could offer them Winks and Tanganga plus 35 million. He'd be perfect with Romero and Dier.

With how Conte is wanting the two outside CBs to join the attack in order to create overloads, I don't feel this plays into Guehi's strengths. Ben Godfrey is a better shout imo.

We're gonna need two more midfielders in the event Lo Celso and Ndombele both leave. Ideally we pick up Laimer + a creative ball carrier

Neither Ndombele nor Lo Celso have played for us since January - and have made minimal appearances for us this season, and have had minimal impact.

so they don't need replacing at all

We might want to upgrade one CM but that's about as much we will do with other positions to deal with

Kinda think we have that box ticked by PEH & Skipp now.

Someone to share duties/game-time with Bantancur would be wiser.......

Unless we're going for 352; in which case I'd bag Eriksen AND one of Bissouma(tbc*)/Phillips/Nevez.

(£60m seems expensive, but you're buying HG, EPL-proven international approaching prime years.... All of which come at a premium.)

I have a profound fondness Eriksen, but I really don't think we should pursue re-signing him. He's 30yo. He certainly doesn't fit this Conte 343, and who knows what comes next, but I'm really not sure it will accommodate an ageing 10/8. Much rather move on and keep the memory of Eriksen in his prime untarnished by a potentially flawed rerun.

But completely agree about Philips. Really think we've got this covered with Skipp. Philips is obviously further down the development line, but Skipp pretty much covers the same busy cunt with a bit of football remit and will get where Philips is.

I quite like Laimer, he's a real grafter, but as with Philips, I really think we've got this covered now. Great without but what he does with the ball is a bit ordinary.

I don't think he's close to Kante's level TBH.
I dont think we have anybody like him in the squad to be honest, having him is like having 3 players

He is also chipping in with goals and assists this season, think with just Bentancur, Hojbjerg & Skipp we will be left short

His not so great with the ball, and I really don't think he'd be much of an attacking/creative force in the PL.

18 months ago I'd have seriously considered him, purely based on his graft and what he does without the ball, I just think we need someone with a bit more "football" in him if we are bringing in another CM.

I think we assume we will try to get one CM - but with a few other positions to fill it might not be where we get our best player (my best guess is we try to get say 4-6 players half of whom are 'excellent' quality such as Romero, Bentancur or Kulusevski and the others 'good class more than capable of playing Pl and european matches).

So we go with the best we can get given we would probably need to get our biggest upgrades at striker, LCB and wing back)s).

Laimer's stats suggest half a dozen goals/assists (combined ) a season which would be welcome, price dependent. BTW I think Skipp has it in him to get to those stats if given the right platform

Hes improved alot under Tedesco and he would fit our squad perfectly

Sign him and Eriksen, sell Winks, Celso & Ndombele, send Sarr on loan to maybe Bournemouth managed by Scott Parker & midfield is set

Hopefully there’s no truth in the Man U rumour and their name is just included because of rangnick, and it’s them, so gets more hits. He was great against us in the CL game a couple of seasons ago.

Given the obvious needs elsewhere and the fact most here seem comfortable with Skipp, Bentancur and Hojbjerg as our main starters in this system: I wouldn’t be adverse to Vidal for a season.

Clearly not the player he was, but could no doubt do a job rotating in or as a sub for a year given he’s starting most weeks for inter still. Free, read somewhere that Conte likes him, and could see him having a similar effect to Cambiasso at Leicester.
