Given the obvious needs elsewhere and the fact most here seem comfortable with Skipp, Bentancur and Hojbjerg as our main starters in this system: I wouldn’t be adverse to Vidal for a season.

Clearly not the player he was, but could no doubt do a job rotating in or as a sub for a year given he’s starting most weeks for inter still. Free, read somewhere that Conte likes him, and could see him having a similar effect to Cambiasso at Leicester.
Whether it's Vidal or someone else I am completely in favour of short term fixes.
Fergie loaned Larsson and our loan deal with Bale last season was fantastic for us.

‘I’m just very pleased he’s playing for us. It’s no secret that I want him to continue next season.

‘I know Christian is enjoying his football and really enjoying being back. I know I will have to answer these questions until the end of the season, so let’s see what will happen.’

Brentford will hope loyalty and Eriksen’s appreciation for the opportunity can override the natural urge and ambition to test himself at a higher level. And the lure of money is sure to be more attractive elsewhere.

Antonio Conte, who signed the Danish midfielder for Inter Milan, is now in charge at Spurs, where Eriksen spent six and a half years and remains a darling of the fans. The Italian has already declared an interest.

I am not against what you suggest, and I am not against signing some experiend players...but I would rather prefer that Spurs got a younger player who would fit into Conte's system and play for many seasons.
It seems like the press has created this narrative that Conte's will leave Spurs any time soon, so Spurs should thus make the best of it while it lasts and should therefore go for short-term solutions because Conte's leaving soon anyway...

Højbjerg turns 27 this summer, Bentancur 25, and Skipp is a baby still. If we can upgrade Winks with someone of proven class, but potentially entering his later years so that he doesn’t expect to start every match and Skipp continues to get plenty of first team time, that’d be ideal. I actually think we could do a lot worse than a session of James Milner but I doubt he’s trade that role at Liverpool for the same role with us.

Eriksen making all sorts of sense, especially due to his versatility as he’d obviously be great to slot into the front 3 as well, and he’d be our joker in the pack for CM2 in those matches where we need more craft and don’t need two ‘tougher’ options, but it might leave us a touch light unless someone like Sarr or White is ready to step up as Conte plan A really requires all rounders in the middle.

I'm glad we wont be able to sign players off the back of a good world cup performance this summer.

I don't mind the age factor one bit. Dani Alves is still great at 38, Chelsea won a UCL with 36 year old Thiago Silva at CB and Milner is as reliable as ever for the scouse. The only one I can think of that fell off a cliff because of age recently is Marcelo.

There will always be exceptions to any rule (Alves & SIlva aren't the norm!), but bodies give out; it's just a fact of nature......

Maybe you just have more faith in our luck that I do.

But we can in January.....

We’ll need someone to take Winks off our hands (as well as Ndombele & LoCelso) we might have to avoid being fussy.. and take a hit esp with Ndombele… he’ll prob have to take a hit personally on wages too..

Winks would suit brighton/Villa/Southampton.

If we got Laimer, with Bentancur, Skipp and Hojbjerg that’s a really strong CM!

Dani Alves was always a fitness "monster" and had already played 8 seasons for Barca; so there was no risk in his case.
Besides, when they bought him Barca had little or no money for transfers and had no proper right-back since Sergi Roberto was out injured while Dest was struggling.
Thiago Silva (unfortunately) has played really well in Chelski's defense but he's been rated as one of the best CB for a decade now.
Benzema is still going strong at 34.
As long as a player keeps himself fit (free from injuries and a healthy life-style) he can keep performing at the top until past the mid-30s
