We’ll need someone to take Winks off our hands (as well as Ndombele & LoCelso) we might have to avoid being fussy.. and take a hit esp with Ndombele… he’ll prob have to take a hit personally on wages too..

Winks would suit brighton/Villa/Southampton.

If we got Laimer, with Bentancur, Skipp and Hojbjerg that’s a really strong CM!
Conte's praised Winks so many times so I doubt Conte wants to sell him. Only if Winks leaves on his own accord will it happen I think.
One of the main reasons is that it is not easy to find a "decent" player who's happy to sit on the bench without complaining. An unhappy player can have a toxic influence on other players.

He won't tho'. We'll have to take that hit too.
Yes, that’s likely. But…. He’s 25 and contracted through summer ‘24. We’ve got to threaten him with languishing in the U-23s without a squad number for twenty-four months and see what happens.
He may just do a Bentley and take the obscene money and sit but I think he might just want to cut his losses, get out of Dodge and move on.
I fear we’re going to loan him out and subsidize his wages for the next two years while he winds his contract down, coming back for pre-season training and becoming a distraction.

Winks is Club Trained too. Assuming we keep Kane, Tanganga and Skipp, there's a free slot there that can't be filled with a homegrown player in Europe.

I am for keeping Tanganga but he's so far been very injury prone and at a stage in his career where he really needs regular playing time to gain experience and develop as a player. I\d loan him out to an EPL club next season unless he develops spectacularly over the summer.

Winks needs moving on THIS summer.
He's already been replaced. When Pochettino said its hard to upgrade what we have, he was negligent in not looking at the bench.
We can't make that mistake again.

We need options, not pulses. We will be in one form of Europe next season. We will need to rotate. We have seen over and over the last 2 seasons we don't have quality back ups.

I'd add Moura, Rodon, Sanchez, Golini and probably a few others to that list of high priority bench warmers to upgrade for ones we can actually rely on.

Lo Celso
Be happy with 20m and 30% odd sell on clause (and write loans in), as he will no doubt flourish and sign for Barca/Real/Atletico in a couple more years, if we don’t…

Top needs (in order):

RWB
LCB
CM
LWB

In attack, I'm fine with keeping Son/Kane/Kulu front three with rotation from Bergwijn and Lucas

In CM we need an extra quality CM so that we enough to rotate in case someone gets hurt, like Skipp this season. Bentancur/PEH/Skipp/NewCM/Winks. An ageing vet willing to take less minutes would be ideal imo.

At WB, I say we keep developing Reggie and Sess, see what Royal and Doherty can do the rest of the season, and then figure out which one we plan to keep next season. Maybe Royal can improve significantly in the next month or two? It would amazing if we could get a world class RWB to pair with Kulu.

In CB, we just need an upgrade to Ben Davies, then we can have Davies/Sanchez backup LCB/RCB and Dier holding down CB. Davies is playing great right now, I will admit. Still we would need at least more depth in this area (left-footed CB).

Given Son and Kane's age, I'd want to replace Lucas, especially if we make CL. See if we could get a difference maker there but also give us Berg, Deki, Gil, new player and the youth products to hope someone really pops. I'd spend the money there, RB and on a left sided CB, plus LWB if Regi goes. Fill up on frees and punts.

And a back up keeper preferably fighting for first choice.

Isn’t Dejan on an 18 month loan so not due until next summer? Romero due this summer though so that will effect spending.

with us likely to trigger both deki and romero i doubt we will spend much more i really hope im wrong on this one
Romero was last seasons purchase, was just a way to move money about on the accounts. Would be shocked if purchasing him effects this year, deki maybe.

Can see more of these loans to buy with a large upfront fee that means it's effectively a purchase so even if we loan someone next year people should understand its effectively a purchase unless something major happens.
