Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Gio obviously tried early on in his spell with us. He was our best player not named Kane or Son for a period under Jose.

I just think that as we shipped out more and more of our Argentines he got more uncomfortable. And when Lamela, who seemingly was the alpha Argentine and kept the rest in check, went to Sevilla he well and truly lost his drive.

If you look back Lo Celso was good for about 6 matches - and by good I mean putting in an effort and covering a lot of ground - in those 6 matches under Jose Mourhino he did not get a goal or assist and I'm not sure he got any shots on target either.

But after that spell (ended in an injury in training ) he never put in that intensity of performance again, plus of course often injured (except just before an Argentinian game).

Could see Eriksen returning given the Conte comments and their history (and his with Spurs). Not sure he has the physicality to play in a midfield 2 in Conte's system but would give us a lovely option to play 3 at times.

Bale no chance - the guy is a fossil and doesn't give two fucks about club football.

Gio plus 20m for Pau Torres makes too much sense not to happen. All those other names above are good too.

ST: Kane, Darwin Nunes
LW: Son, Bergwijn
RW: Kulu, Gil
CM: New Signing, Bentancur, Skipp, Hojbjerg, Eriksen
LWB: Reg, Sess
RWB: New signing, Doherty
LCB: Pau Torres, Davies
CB: Dier, New Signing
RCB: Romero, Tanganga
GK: Lloris, Sam Johnstone

Sold: Lucas, Winks, Emerson, Gio, Ndombele, CCV, Rodon, Sanchez

So just the 7 signings then to complete our squad.

Attack: We need someone that can do a job through the middle when Kane is out and play wide. Hoping Gil can step up in pre-season and prove worthy cover on the right.

Midfield: I think we need to upgrade Hojbjerg in the first XI with someone robust but also more technical in possession - basically we need another Bentancur. Eriksen on a short-term deal is the nice cherry on the top.

Wing backs: Give it one more season with dumb and dumber at LWB and then reassess if they don't improve. Ship out the Brazilian and get someone good in to fight it out with Doherty.

Centre back: Top quality LCB is a must. I also think we need a good quality option to challenge Dier's position and provide quality cover at RCB. Rodon/Sanchez/Tanganga are not up to it.

GK: Sam Johnstone on a free seems a no brainer.

Very encouraging list of LCB's.. might be crazy but I wouldn't be super surprised if Davies is a decent rotation at LWB as well as LCB in Conte's system. He doesn't have great attacking skill as a LB, but in a system that hands opportunities to the wing back his delivery and touch could make him a useful player there.

Schlotterbeck by far my favourite of the options mentioned, though I haven't seen much of Gvardiol.

Given the number of positions we need to fill, there is no reason to lose Davies who covers LCB and LB/LWB, doesn't complain, always tries and has a lot of both PL and european experience and is trusted to be captain if we put out a 'B' team in less competitive matches. Possibly we keep him until we get a youngster coming through who can cover both positions

So which of those new signings are going to be HG - looks like you need 3 of them - can you give a list of possible names ?

Yup, let's not repeat the misktake we made with Trippier.

Weren’t the figures for Torres quite high? Don’t get me wrong I’d love the deal you’re proposing but does LoCelso actually have any meaningful value that it would only take a 20min addon?

Is Schlotterbeck good in the air? How physical is he?

I've only seen a bit of Bastoni, and he seems ideal cos he's pretty tall and fast attack minded CB (Dier is slow, Romero shit in the air), but he doesn't seem to be anywhere near Romero in terms of actual defending (few are).

Gvardiol would be the most fun pick.

Hypothetically...

Out:
Sanchez: 20m
Lo Celso: 30m
CCV: 8m
Ndombele: 25m
Sess: 10m
Lucas: 15m
Winks: 10m
Total in: 118m (conservative estimate)

In:
Kulu: 30m (loan to permament)
Romero: 40m (loan to permanent, or is it already done?)
Gvadriol: 50m
LWB: 30m
Bale
Eriksen
Out: 140m

very plausable "net spend" of just 32m to have both quality and depth.
No chance we get 118M for those dreggs. That said, even if we recouped 60M the ‘ins’ are still easily affordable

I think that's pretty reasonable. Any you disagree with specifically?
See below. Current wages are a barrier to recouping a big fee for Sanchez, GLC and Ndombele….. surely one of the right backs go too?

Out:
Sanchez: 20m (loan)
Lo Celso: 30m (15M)
CCV: 8m (6M)
Ndombele: 25m (loan)
Sess: 10m (15M)
Lucas: 15m (15M)
Winks: 10m (8M)
Total in: 118m (61M)

60M still a good return IMO. Massively reduces the wage bill too by about 28M per year

Agree on the wages of certain players, but no way Lo celso goes for 15m. He's highly rated in Spain, an Arg international, and having a resurgance at Villareal, who are keen to keep him. We sold Foyth to them for 13.5m.

Surely among the many midtable PL clubs someone will pay 20m for Sanchez.

I'd want Emerson out too, I just made a list of players who are well and truly done here.

The problem is that lazy managers like Redknapp etc no longer exist. Clubs do thorough due diligence through data analysis and video sessions so they can see how fucking awful Sanchez is

Hope you are right re: GLC so 20/25M then? Just don’t see Spanish clubs paying much more

55 million for Ndombele and Lo Celso, more than we'll pay for Bentancur and Kulusevski? 8 million for CCV?
We paid close to 90m for the pair. Lo Celso is regaining hype so I think decent price is possible. Ndombele... yeah, probably optimistic.

You can hardly start discussions on a transfer under 20m these days for any half decent player.

He seems to be doing great there and probably has a good reputation in Spain. I don't think 30m is completely unreasonable if he finishes the season well.

Although that would mean P. Torres being valued 50m, maybe it will be closer to 60m so Gio plus 30 in that case.

How is he RCB cover when he's never played there?
Also having a better RWB to play RWB is the way to go so Doherty all day for me.
I don’t want either at RWB, but I also don’t want 2 experienced players for every position and a bloated squad with average, unhappy players. Rather have a squad of 18 excellent players with a few versatile cover players then young uns making up the rest

You can tell he’s a defender and would do ok on the right of a 3

I’m gonna be honest, I’d be a little sad for Brentford if Eriksen leaves them just after six months for nothing. They gave him a chance back to football and him leaving after only six months after it would be using them basically has a glorified gym. But hey, just my opinion and I really like Eriksen.
