Be realistic, who is paying £30m for Sanchez?
I reckon he's worth around that fee.... but finding a buyer may not be easy. He could do well in La Liga but there I can only think of 3 clubs - Atl Madrid, Sevilla, Villareal - who may be able to afford that fee and also in need of a CB.
Or, hopefully, Pochettino decides to do some Spurs-charity and buy his 2 record purchases while at Spurs: Ndomebele & Sanchez
If Atleti came in for him, then Spurs could suggest a swap deal involving Jan Oblak whose contract expires next summer 😁

Would not be comfortable with Meslier playing on goal for us, not one bit. Phillips would be great if he could stay fit.

He's being peppered with shots at present, and an unfair percentage being high quality chances because of the style of his team. Plus he's suppose to be commanding in a team that's drilled godawfully poor at defending set pieces.

It's risky business saying on here, but a recent example just moved to right around the corner. He was being bombarded, playing in (less than Leeds, but still) expansive struggling teams. He certainly didn't look like someone that anyone should be comfortable with, and most laughed at the transfer. Not so much now.

I don't know enough about what constitutes a good keeper in terms of skill sets to develop further, but I wouldn't at all be uncomfortable with him. My gut feeling is, Meslier would excel and potentially even by phenomenal if he gets a more structured unit in front of him.

Is Doherty coming back from an ACL at 29 into the first team? He must only have a year left on contract. Harsh as it sounds I’d let him go.

Big question mark over that, I agree. On the flip of that, who's going to sign him coming back from an acl AND pay him what we are paying? Even if we give him away on a free?

If the alternative is to subsidise his pay at another club, I'd much much rather give him a fair go at rediscovering his form from just before the injury.

How are they going to activate the release clause when the transfer market doesn’t open for another month?

Unless the clause states otherwise, it can be activated at any time. It's just the actual transfer (and registration) of the player, which can't happen until the relevant windows open.

No different than us signing Dybala on a free in 48 hours, but not registrering him until the summer :contethumb:

Well made point. Don't know enough about him or the position to strongly dispute you. Definitely a tough place to play this year with how the team fell apart, and the injuries they've had, but there are erratic behaviours in his game that make me think he'd struggle in a team that's positioning itself to fight for trophies etc. Talented keeper but I think he'd need a step between Leeds and a top-ish side.

Some posts about a young keeper. That would be a good move with lloris close to the end. Be good to bed him in as back up next season, ready to take over the following one, or one after that if lloris is still doing well.

Left and right wing back IMO is critical.
There is absolutely nothing there at the moment in an attacking sense. This could transform us from s a team that has to rely on quick counters through the middle to one that can push teams back.

Unless a club's in dire financial needs it's hard to believe a club will just offer their best players around but I wouldn't mind if Spurs got Theate and Hickey off them.

Likely that they see Paratici and his love of Serie A and realize they have a sucker they can get to overpay for some of their mediocre players.

Also, he's worth 11m... If they are holding out for 23m and people are willing to pay 23m that's what he's worth. Release clause doesn't come into it, only when it's lower than true worth
The report claims that the defender is actually worth €11m but that he has a release clause.

Fenerbahce president Ali Koc is reported to be open to a transfer but won’t entertain an offer that does not activate his €23m release clause.

Just watching Milan vs Verona from last week.. wow, Rafael Leao would be a difference making signing. What a rotation he'd be with our front three next season at LW and RW. Looks to have very top class potential.
