Not interested in Dybala at all. There was a time I thought he would be a great signing but give me a player who’s going to play 40+ games a season and doesn’t come with an inflated price tag and wage.

Our CM needs a tough, very fit player with good ball control and distribution. Contes midfields are typically no nonsense type players. Not sure who would be top of my list that fits that role though
Dybala, Eriksen, and Bale while very tempting, seem to me to be the exact wrong approach considering how much effort Conte has expended in just getting our side back in top shape and playing a physically demanding style of football.

I could maybe get behind Eriksen as a bench option who plays against relegation level bus parking sides or comes on when we need a goal, but I just don’t think any of those three are what we need to ascend.

Yes he can't stay past people, not pacey at all. I think plusses are his technique, composure and brain, he usually takes the right or good option with his pass. Can jink his way out of a tight spot too. Also his right foot is decent which is a plus. Quite strong like you said and mature for a youngster. He'd probably be better suited to a 10 or 8 role, he seems fairly disciplined tracking back.

Your favourite at City, Jack Wankhorn, is probably a bit quicker but I'd rather have Kulu which is interesting when you consider their age and cost (I realise English talent costs more but still).

Kulu's stats are very good considering his limitation, he'd probably get even more space if we had a proper RWB. I'd keep him personally and see how he develops, his age means he'll hopefully improve and if his progress stalls we'd get our money back at least I reckon, probably turn a profit. It's nice to have some brains back in the team at least.

I’d rather have you out there Stevie than the Dandy Wankhorn.

What your saying is fair, some brain and composure is definitely an uptick on the likes of Moura (and I guess if he had those and pace and trickery, he wouldn’t be on a 30m loan to buy).

I just think we’d be better off spending any money strengthening as much as poss this summer - I think we need a couple more attacking options (and hopefully ditching Moura and Bergwijn) as well as other key positions - and deferring the decision on Kilusevski until next summer - I don’t really see a downside to waiting and taking a good look at him the whole of next season.

We should go all out for Bellingham if Liverpool don't go in for him, as we wouldn't stand a chance if we were to go head to head with them. He's the type of player you can build your team around for years to come. Get rid of Lo Celso and Winks, that would cover half of his fee. Though he seems determined to stay another season at Dortmund from what I can gather, and they won't be keen to sell after they've just lost Haaland. Imagine Skipp, Bentancur and Bellingham in midfield in the near future, that's pretty tasty.
Belling has confirmed that he'll stay another season at Dortmund. If Wes Ham wants £150m for Rice then Bor Dortmund would want a similar fee for Bellingham (not that I agree with Gerrard but he rates Bellingham among the 6 best MF players in Europe).

Yes, it does. He is saying the people running the club now are more professional and therefore more likely to succeed in meeting objectives.

Fella said it "should" happen (suggesting it's not good enough if it doesn't happen)... Not that it's "more likely".

Regardless:

- Levy is still at the helm and the typical complaint (rightfully or not) is that he doesn't spend enough.
- Parattici spent much of his first 6 months being cunted off (including the speed of which it took to do deals); now he's a veritable magician?
- Selling clubs will still do things at their pace (which is why "get it all done before pre-season is always a simplistic ask)
- The fundamental issue of mass-player integration is still an issue regardless of who's doing the buying.
- As is the finite length of time in any one trf window.

Getting 20-odd deals done in one window and everything coming up roses fantasy land.

Hit our 6 key targets and I'll be pleased....... If by the end of the season they've proven to do the business then we can consider it a success. Fans getting bogged down in how many players we can sell is a red-herring.

£1.5bn for Rice?

Not even Big Ron Atkinson would pay that

People are - kind of disingenuously - throwing the word “free” around a whole lot, and it shows a lack of understanding about how business is done in today’s money circus. Any player without a transfer fee who can play at the top level and has competition for their signature will be receiving tens of millions in signing-on bonuses, agent fees, and excessive salaries that they otherwise wouldn’t have been able to demand. In total maybe they are cheaper than paying a transfer fee but players and money-minded agents know what they are worth and aren’t in the business of giving discounts and favors.

Fair.

I'm miles better than the Wankhorn, you're right.
