Nice little clip of Bastoni vs Lazio earlier this year. Looks quite aggressive and has a decent cross on him too. Him and Romero, front-foot defenders bombing forward...

Can't help getting my hopes up after the club's recent swell of momentum. Feels good.

Some goal, some assist!
First time I have watched him. He can pass and is confident and made a couple of big tackles. Would like to see how he deals with crosses.

He looks so good as an initiator in a back 3. Long range goal, long range assist, tons of 1-2s while advancing down the left- basically the perfect Conte LCB we could possibly ask for.
Perfect player for us really. Only issue is I don't think he gives us much threat in attacking set-pieces nor is he a dominant defender of them. (and neither does Dier provide much attacking threat). Liverpool, City and Chelsea all clean up with set piece goals. If you play 3cb's all the time, you'd like a few of them to be chipping in with 2/3/4 goals. I think Romero has it in him, to be fair.

Not for here really but David Pleat goes into it in his spurs show interview. It is quite an interesting listen. It was to do with his wife wanting to go back to Scotland and a bit about the financials. But what I didnt know was that when we signed Gough it was between him and Terry Butcher. Pleat wanted Butcher but Scoular wanted Gough because of his age and the possibility of selling him on.
Very interesting.

I'd always heard that Gough's wife threw a tantrum on the morning of the cup final. May be garbage.

The next bit will seem incomprehensible to anyone younger than 35 - Rangers and Celtic were SOOOOO massive at the time that if one of them came calling for a Scottish player, that was basically it. Durie ditto, once Rangers made an offer he was so star struck he could hardly walk straight (cue some jokes here).

Didn't know about Butcher. I'd have preferred him. I saw both Div 1 matches v Coventry and each time Regis and co gave Gough a torrid time, esp away in a 4-3.. I remember being annoyed when Leeds threw the semi late on for that reason.

Quite a few of us with good memories of those times - seems almost incomprehensible now that a player would leave Spurs for Rangers with Rangers fees too big to turn down once player had decided to go.

Real shame we ended with neither Gough nor Butcher

Bad source but TuttoMercato linking us with Youssouf Fofana. Partners Tchouameni in Monaco's midfield.. good, rangy defensive player.. has good passing in him but think he'd be a risky move. Cheick Doucoure an option that's not quite as strong defensively but I'd be way more sure of his ability with the ball.

Yet another piece of "news" that does not make sense: I am sure that a deal for Bissouma would have no effect at all on Spurs interest in Eriksen. Two different players and two different scenarios.

We need to wait for the criminal investigation to conclude before we even consider YB. Personally I am not sure I am comfortable with him at our club no matter the result of the investigation and prosecution.

Well that's just a pathetic comment, and I'm sick to death of people unwilling to accept if someone's been found not guilty by a court of law, just because they're formed their own judgmental opnions.

Innocent until proven guilty is supposed to be how our law works.

If guilty, then yes I would not want him at our club. If found not guilty, I see absolutely no issue whatsoever and he'd be an asset.

It may not even get that far..... The police may still decide he has no charges to answer.

People are jumping the gun talking about court.

Which is why I said not sure. I know that he is innocent until proven guilty but, especially in matters of sexual assault convictions are notoriously hard to achieve and do we want someone who gets off because the victim was drunk/ is an 'unreliable' witness/ has mental health issues etc.
I genuinely don't know how I would feel. What if his accuser was my daughter? There are a lot of writers who have made a good case that the justice system doesn't serve sexual crimes well. (Bindel being the most visible) yet I also agree that innocence until guilt is proven is vital.

This vid didn't show much of his defending. At the same time he had 3 attempts on goal (with 1 goal) and an assist, so we know he can contribute going forward. But I also want to see Romero level defending from him.

Probably should watch at least a handful of full matches. Although entertaining, youtube compilations paint a very limited picture of a player's abilities.

I stand by the 'if found innocent, he is innocent' view. Otherwise our justice system is worthless and people will continue to have their names dragged through the mud and their lives destroyed, for no reason.

Agree that we should wait for the investigation to be concluded, or have an agreement in place for IF he's found not guilty.
