So you honestly believe that the club would try and sign a player who is under investigation without doing their due diligence?

You've been watching too much Line Of Duty mate.

What do you think due diligence means? It's not magic, and in fact the idea that Spurs have done due diligence is an assumption without any evidence.

This could, however unlikely, still end up in a bad way.

We, the babbling masses know very little.

Good post, that part in bold is the key to me.

I'm 90% behind this signing, obviously, but that remaining 10% is a concern that (a) his role in whatever it wasn't anything "shameful" as you say and the matter is resolved, at least as far as Bissouma is concerned and (b) a discomfort with the way some Spurs fans are to a greater or lesser degree applying double standards (be honest, if he were on the point of signing for Arsen*l, would you be so understanding?).

I also don't think people should discuss sub-judice matters on line, regardless of the individual concerned, but that's just me.

I'd have thought there's not a single person that the previously highlighted part doesn't apply to....

Seems a bit absurd that every single post needs to come with such a caveat.

Conte will likely rotate, depending on opposition tactics, level of opposition and whether a PL game or early round of Cup competitions.

Also remember that next season there will be five subs, so on theory all four could be used in one game even if that is unlikely.

The five subs is a good point. Not exactly important, but it's not unlikely at all, that we'll need all four in the middle to be good options. For the majority of matches Kane, Hugo, and the three CB's will not be subbed. That leaves five subs for six players.

You're misunderstanding me. I'm not saying Bissouma is guilty. There's a lot of bullshit accusations around, and I hope that's what it's turning out to be with Bissouma.

My point is, however, that the police hasn't cleared him of the allegations yet. That investigation should've been concluded before we made a move. If he isn't innocent, we're now going to be the club that signed a sexual assailant. I think it's disgraceful that the club is willing to take that chance simply because he's a good footballer. If we didn't get Bissouma, so what? This just shows that the club thinks of money before humans. We should have better values than that.

I suspect the club did a pretty full due diligence on Bissouma before he was signed - don't forget Levy knows their owner Bloom and Spurs employed their managing director, Barber so we might well have a lot of inside information concerning the allegations and the investigations. No idea more that anyone else reads but perfectly possible that police interest in Bissouma is now limited to him being a witness to his 'mate' (thought to be uncle) conduct and not his conduct. But I'm sure there will be a further update from police in due course

If they're prepared to go to £55m and this fact is "known" by a journalist, why bid £42m? Sports journalism, the easiest job in the world (aside from being Hercules).

Edit: What AcrossThePond AcrossThePond said.

I think these articles are one club deliberately leaking information to force a hand.

Usually in negotiations you never expect anyone to take the first offer. I remember one of these entrepreneur types said if you don't insult them on the first offer, you aren't negotiating properly. So they probably expect that have to go above that. If Inter keep saying £69m and not budging at all, by "leaking" £55m it might try and convince that club that they are serious, that's all they'll get and to lower their counter-offer or the other club will walk.
