Paqueta from the limited times I have seen him is class and unlike Eriksen is great off the ball in terms of pressing/physicality. But he plays in the ‘’farmers league’’ so who knows how well he will adapt.

bus-conductor bus-conductor any thoughts as you watch French football a lot?

From a few days ago re Paqueta:

Lots. He’s got some technical ability and some vision, can carry/hold the ball (though he’s not a pacy dribbler) and pass the ball incisively, scores and makes goals, can play as an 8 in a 3 I guess, but more as an ACM/AM. At a real push he could play as a false 9.

He’s produced at a decent rate (performances and goods) for Lyon, but is a bit inconsistent, his versatility might appeal, but he wouldn’t be my choice. I don’t think he’s exactly what we need, don’t think he’ll be as effective in the PL, and I don’t think he fits Conte’s system really - unless he’s going to change.

I don't know how PSG get away with it though, as they've signed Vitinha and lining up Renato Sanches & Skriniar (despite of already having the following CBs: Presnel Kimpembe, Sergio Ramos, Marquinhos, Thilo Kehrer, Abdou Diallo, El Chadaille Bitshiabut, Timothée Pembélé) and they just signed Mbappe to a huge new bumper deal.
At one stage one would think they had to do something to balance their books...by selling some of their assets.
Yeah, I honestly don’t quite understand how they fail to breach FFP rules.

Ironic that Real want to report them, but there is definitely not quite right with PSG’s finances.

Perhaps the ol’ Sepp Blatter envelopes are in play here…

If there is one source of truth amongst the madness it has to be SLØPPY BLØØDFART.

Love to hear that we spend what we generate. Being run sustainably is a real badge of honour. There was a plan, it’s being executed, we’re now in the phase that makes the fans wet.

Great owners
Really interested in the next swiss ramble post on Spurs. Should be out in a couple of weeks.

In 2018/19 we reached 460m revenue. Liverpool that season was 533m. They've grown faster than us since, but I'm sure we're the next best in revenue growth.

AIA and Nike completely screwed us (unless there's some special sweetener in the deal), I hope Levy finds a way out of those contracts.

Whatever happened to Maxence Lacroix?

Last summer he was all the rage on here as the ball playing young left footed CB we should be signing but not heard a peep about him this year.

Yeah that's a good shout, he was a big name last summer. Looks like he's gotten some mild Newcastle and Villa buzz this window, but nothing much.

He's right footed, which could be the reason we're not super interested this summer. Seems like he had a fine season from what I can see, but maybe he got lost in the shuffle a little in the Bundesliga with Gvaridol, Ndicka, and Schlotterbeck all having break out seasons in the same age cohort.

Their president was made chair of European clubs association almost immediately after not being part of the ESL. Not directly linked to ffp but I don't expect any rush to investigate ny UEFA as a result . Petro clubs were lauded by a complicit media for not joining ESL, but it was in their interests not to have a more even playing field among the richer clubs.

Would cost €40m plus, and not a fit for LCB which is where our big defensive spend will go. Had a good season individually, but Wolfsburg tailed off this season with the manager change and CL to contend with. Imagine he'd be high on the list if we were looking for a starting ccb or rcb.

Like City, their revenue is built up from fake commercial deals so it’s potentially twice as high as it should be. This foundation allows them flexibility to buy and sell within the guardrails of FFP, and if anyone tries to challenge the fair market value of the deals they will be sued and embroiled in expensive legal action for years
