Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

That looks a terrible transfer with hindsight.
I do think Gill has something but it will take him a long time if at all to adapt the the English game.
For all the praise paratici gets the transfers of Gill and Emerson look like shockers now
I think he's simply not physically robust enough for the PL. He'd just bounce off the more physical defenders. Skilful player but he needs to bulk up. Maybe a few lessons with Ndobby would help...

Unpopular opinion but true.

From the excellent player that he was for us for most of his Spurs career and for what he’s been through, I can understand why people want him back, but those people need to take their rose-tinted glasses off and remember how absolutely fucking diabolical Eriksen was for us for the two seasons before he left.

Practically every corner would fail to beat the first defender and he was nowhere near the influential player that he was for the bulk of his Spurs career. He then downed tools, refused to sign an extension and left on the cheap a few months before his contract expired.

He did well for Brentford this season, I think he should stay there. United would be a bad move for him as expectations would be sky high and the pressure would be huge. Big fish in a small pond. Surrounded by Danes. Loved by everyone. If they’re offering him respectable money then he should take it.

This will likely be downvoted to oblivion by his fans but it doesn’t change the facts.
We wouldn't bring him in to be super influential, just see us through against bus parkers, and games where we are behind and in need of a goal, but PEH, Benta etc. just won't do.

Just want to say to my good freind Aussie Yid in London Aussie Yid in London any post that started "Get your cocks ready in your hands lads there's a 14 year old" probably needs some revision.😑
This is why the comma is key.

It’s the difference between “fuck me, grandad” and “fuck me grandad”.

Don't think that's his issue. He did an amazing job (combined with Skipp) to absolutely batter Traore early in the season under Nuno. Better than we did under Mourinho with the roational fouling. He has enough skill to dribble past people that's not the issue.

His big issues are that he has poor end product, too slow to release a cross/through ball or take a shot. He also lacks positional discipline, running like a headless chicken the entire time he's on the pitch.

I do want a creative midfielder who gives us the option of changing to 352 if needed, either mid match or teams parking the bus.

Eriksen would have been a good option as he's got the talent and is free, thus freeing up funds elsewhere. However, it has become clear that Paratici and Conte have cooled their interest on him.

I hope it's because they've spotted an ever better creative mid option elsewhere. Paratici is working under the radar these days, so we may be looking at a player who hasn't even been reported on.

Eriksen was horrible in Conte's system at Inter and he completely quit on us to force his move out. Thanks for the memories... I'd prefer not to make any new ones with Eriksen
It’s funny how people see it. I just genuinely never got annoyed by Eriksen.

Poch’s bloody awful diamond broke him. He never, ever stopped running. For some reason he decided he no longer wanted to hit the ball over knee height, but the entire team was done. He, alongside Dembele, epitomised the end of a generation.

And I didn’t begrudge him the move. It *was* the right time for him to change.

I’m 50/50 on him returning. Nothing to do with sentiment. If it works, go for it. And if we don’t go for him, I still think we need a midfielder that can play further forward, in between the lines.

I think we could get someone younger that could be an asset for a longer period of time. Eriksen is old. Even if he is decent we will only have him for a couple of years.

Hmmm… i still think you’re viewing a midfield as composed of individuals whose quality we should compare.

Instead, what I’m saying, is that the players are a tool to achieve certain footballing aims within a broader philosophy. The right players are the right-shaped tools for the job. Sure, underlying qualities might make some players more useful tools but I think we have the right tools in our midfield for the job it needs to perform.

Our players will be as contextually effective as Liverpool’s are.

That's fair. I think we're still missing a more refined player who we can turn to when a team is highly organised and has countered our system. Someone who can open teams up with a clever pass from deep which isn't necessarily structured or coached but just comes naturally. At Chelsea he had Fabregas, at Juventus Pirlo/Pogba, and at Inter he had a few midfielders capable of it.

BUT there's a solid argument that this player isn't an all out priority and we're not about to sign 10 players in one window, it isn't football manager .. for where we want to be you might be right that what we have in midfield will do the job.
