One hand giveth.... etc.
Thank god for Lukaku and Werner, and Pulisic and.... you get the idea.

But for real though, their midfield and defence until recently was absolutely elite. They won the CL by scoring 1 goal and keeping a clean sheet against City. They've kept Liverpool goalless in two finals last season, and arguably were robbed by a bad offside against lakaka.

While Sterling and Havertz can't tie Son/Kane's laces, and Raphina is probably about Kulu's level, it's a big big upgrade on that they had. Kounde and De Ligt/Koulibaly would largely make up for the players leaving.

They'll likely improve a decent amount next season.

So we shouldn't sign players from any top side in Europe?
Not at all what I said. I'm arguing against the idea that Barca are just fucking up good players by pointing out that in the recent Barca era, none (or very few) of the players that have left went on to do anything meaningful.

.........And you think that's what i was claming do you?

I have no idea.

The point (clearly) is that Paratici may well be aware Conte would prefer something extra in midfield (Eriksen) but doesn’t mean Conte will actually get it.

That doesn’t change the fact we still need said midfielder, the person I was replying to was claiming Conte doesn’t require one in his setup .. it’s wrong .

They have big holes that weren't there last year (and more of the same next summer).

.....Let's see what Boehly as a virgin DOF conjures up.

People who are turning their noses up at Lenglet might want to look at Bentancur and Kulusevski as an example of players who made it work at Spurs coming off the back of poof form, you just gotta trust the club and Conte on this one and not over-react just because the players are coming off bad seasons, we know how quick things can change,
Poof form? LGBTQ will be after you....

The thing is, though, we only play them twice. So even if they are better than us, as long as we have gotten better than every other team outside the top 4 and our results reflect that, then it's all going to come down to the 6 matches between us Chelsea, Pool, and City. And we know we can do a number on Pool and City, so just need to eek a couple of good results against Chelsea. 3 wins and 3 losses from these 6 games and the rest is up to us not dropping any silly points to be in the hunt.

It's far from outside the realms of possibility that we sign someone that fits that profile.

Much like until the windows shuts it's not a given that we won't sign a quality CB that's higher on our list than Lenglet.

Which is where my og post comes in...... i.e. Rest assured that if Conte wants one, it will be on the agenda.

Their targets seem much more gettable than ours, so I think they'll be alright. Bohley is seems willing to spend, since he already spent £60m for Raphina, and Kounde has been ready/willing to join for a while. They'd need a decent LCB, and they seem much more willing to pay silly money for DeLigt or Koulibaly.

The DM would remain the only issue. The rest of the positions are backup roles.

Yeah I'm really not seeing Chelsea struggling at all. They will obviously sign defenders and they're Chelsea, Roman or not they have funds and appeal, so big names will come. They're not going to challenge Liverpool or City but they'll be well up there and Tuchel has been excellent in the cups.

Based on what?

The owners are a completely unknown quantity to you and I.

The guy's never bought a football player in his life and has already sacked off his recruitment big wigs.

Look at United..... All that money and yet for years now they've been struggling to get deals over the line.

Does he technically count as club/home grown after starting out in our academy, or did he leave too soon?

:sonhmm:

Left aged 16 before signing a pro contract.

To be a Club trained player need to be at the club for 3 years from age 15, so I imagine Madueke has probably got one year of those 3, and being aged 20 now could probably get the 2nd year in.

But not sure he'd get the 3 years in - but would need a lot of precise dates to be sure !.
