Brave man .. I expect you'll get stick for this.
Yep. It really shouldnt. If it was Forster, Peresic , Lenglet, Spence, Bissouma & Richarlison as stated then you cant say it was a bad window but raises questions whether we'd upgraded at left centre back and right wing back, 2 of the main problem areas going into the window. Still no real creativity added as well. Some really good signings no question but perhaps lacking a bit of flair.

Net spend is currently at 72m and we haven’t signed anyone on huge wages, so really should still be plenty left (especially after sales) to go and buy a creative midfielder & CB.

I think the only nailed on upgrade to the XI is Bissouma, I expect Perisic too but depends on how he adapts to a physical league at his age. Spence is more potential & big question marks over Lenglet, although I am hopeful.

I expect us to not be done after Spence. If we were it would be, as you say, not a poor window but a bit underwhelming given the chatter about the likes of Bastoni & 150m spending prior to this summer.

Was under the impression this weekend was gonna be active.

There have been pundits talking about the need to have a group of 'interchangeable players' that can be rotated without a drop off in quality

Could you make a list of say; 18 players from the current squad like this?

The number of players good enough to be targets for Spurs in any transfer window is pretty limited - and we are not the only club trying to buy, so that number is shared out amongst the top european clubs - Real Madrid, Barcelona. Bayern, Dortmund, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Juventus, ur PL rivals ertc.

Spurs have signed Perisic, Bissouma and Richarlison, all very good players who many clubs will envy. So we've already signed possibly more than our fair share of top players

Sure everybody can dream of signing more top players, but then reality needs to kick in.

And reality includes looking at other clubs such as ManU, with a worse squad than us (just look at their forward options - Ronaldo, (can't press needs to be main man in team otherwise useless, Cavani (now old likely to leave), Rashford (out of form for ManU and England for 2 years), Greenwood (enough said, will he ever play for ManU again ?) , Sancho (hasn't adjusted to PL since moving from Dortmund), Lingard (leaving) hasn't managed to buy one player yet. Nor has Chelsea bought a player and nor teams who would like to vie for Top 6 in PL such as Leicester and Wolves.

If you expected more players in - you might think it underwhelming but its more than your expectations were unrealistic to start with.

I'm still hopeful we will end with 6 - 8 players coming in.

But no point in signing players or the sake of it 'to win the window' , we only want to sign players who will improve Spurs under Conte. And that rules out some players - an obvious example being can you ever see Ndombele putting in the effort necessary for a Conte side ? And some players we want such as Bastoni don't want to move from Inter, so that's another limitation on players who will sign this window for Spurs.

Hugo, Forster

Doherty, Royal, Romero, Dier, Davies, Sanchez, Sessegnon, Peresic

Hoijberg, Bentancur, Skipp, Bissouma

Kane, Son, Kulusevski, Richarlison

You can argue all day that Doherty and Royal aren't good enough at RWB, but Doherty isn't heads and shoulders ahead of Royal so not a huge dropoff in quality.

If we complete the Lenglet loan, that helps provide cover for Davies, but where else (aside from Hugo) is there a significant drop in quality? Sanchez isn't Romero, but he filled in quite well when he was out at the end of the season.

Don't think he'd improve our first eleven, but for 12-15m he'd be a good HG purchase imo. Could see him playing at left wingback or as rotation for RW/ LW. Interested to see how he does in a side that plays football.
