"window opens three months after the season starts."

This is not true......

Simple fact: Window opens 5 months after the season starts....

Most of the players will be off to the world cup and will continue playing, picking up knocks, fatigue and so forth. If we make our squad judgements 2 months early then that's foolish. WC is just a long int. break... Season ends/"stops" in May.
Also, in a regular season it is harder to get players in the Jan window, with a World Cup inflating the price of the players that perform to a decent standard and clubs having more injured and fatigued players in their squad, thus being reluctant ion letting players go, it will be several times worse IMO.

Conte likes proven products so no way that's happening. Most likely scenario is him going to Stade Rennais. Which is a shame since he would have played CL if he stays at Fenerbache.

Will be interesting to see how he fairs in a (slighty) better league.
On paper, he is fantastic. Tall, strong, deceptively quick, good in the air, great anticipation and awareness, comfortable on the ball, two footed. No one knows if all that will translate to a tougher league.

Think Emerson will be off to Atletico now.

Spence hasn't got any experience playing at this level. Sure, if he hits the ground running and exceeds all expectations; we could sell someone in Jan.

The criticism of Royal is ridiculous. He's a good defender who has all the attributes to be coached to improve in the final 3rd.

With any luck, we will spend most games defending a lead; not chasing a goal - and Royal is perfect for this.

Chelski will keep on doing what they do best... pinch young talent from other clubs...

You know what I mean - the season runs for three months then stops, WC runs, PL games restart and the window opens

My view is we can go a bit leaner for the first 3 months and then reassess in Nov, Dec, Jan. I would rather keep players like White and Parrot as fifth and sixth choice players vs buying an average 30M player now just for the sake of fattening the squad…. I would be surprised if we are decimated by injuries in the first three months. I think the bigger slog is Jan-May 2023.

Genuinely makes Martinelli look pub league level. Think he’s going to kill it here after Conte coaches him up a bit.
People bang on about Conte’s influence and it’s true, he definitely improves players but there’s another reason for optimism with all of our signings - they get to dovetail with world class players like Kane, Son, Romero and with Spence, Kulu too (on the right). Good players always make the game easier for their team-mates…..impeccable first touch, creative passing etc should make it easier to slot into that position

The man's got a world cup to play in, you think he's sticking around to be 3rd choice?

We've been chasing Spence all Summer, I think it's pretty certain that Conte likes him and will play him a lot and the fact that Conte preferred Doherty to Emerson before he got injured surely means his days are numbered now.

Anyway I'm seeing that there clear interest from Atletico...
