Especially since one of Richarlison's strengths is getting on the end of crosses.

Sess seems to have been drilled by Conte into early delivery of the ball once he gets free down the left, and Lucas would need to be similarly coached.

Doherty has always had rubbish delivery. So his game is based on making the inside run and arriving late in the box.
Yep I thought Rich was going to bury that header from Sess' cross that Son attempted.

He’s awful out wide in the final and middle thirds, let alone the defensive third. He’s far more effective centrally

I want him gone, don’t give a damn if he smiles a lot…. He’s a toxic influence on our style of play, smile away baldie and run down a blind alley away from Spurs
He will barely play this season barring an injury crisis.

Fine to shoulder the burden of early rounds of domestic cups. If he can add being a half decent wingback to his game then that's a nice bonus.

Admittedly, it's only pre-season, but it feels like we're treading water in terms of our evolution into full-on Conte-ball..... We're still playing 21/22 Conte-ball lite atm and it feels like the emphasis remains on Harry playing quarterback for the other 2 fwds; which isn't really the end game (rather, just a fortunate additional option due to Harry being a beast).
Perisic/Spence or Doherty/Bissouma should really elevate that first team.

Lloris
Romero - Dier - Davies
Spence ---- Bissouma -- Bentancur ---- Perisic
Kulusevski -- Kane -- Son
It's not immediately obviously where you upgrade that 11 to play more effective Conte-ball. Maybe Bastoni for Davies.

It will be interesting to see if we do go for an AM type and Conte's wish is actually for the 352.

My comment is further to my earlier post about WBs..... We could really do with IP & JS delivering asap; until then we're kinda stuck in 21/22 mode.....

(Though patient; I'm aware I'm being over-eager.)

First 11 mindset needs to change, it’s very old fashioned. How often do we have first 11 all available? 3 or 4 times per season?

Your point?

Bergjwin is no longer here, Richarlison is. Lucas will not play minutes in meaningful games barring an injury crisis.

Also 'far more dangerous' is very generous to fatberg. Cunt barely scored a goal in 3 years.
Yeah good point re: Rich. My point is Berg was a far better player IMO yet Lucas still played. Personally inwould prefer to take him out of the equation and dispose of him. I would prefer to see a younger option such as Parrot as fifth choice.

Towards the back end of last season our team barely changed.

It is still a worthy thought experiment in identifying the maximum ability of the squad. Assuming everyone is fit and playing at their mean level - I would bet that XI is considered our strongest.

So over the course of a season, barring long-term injuries, I'd imagine they make the most appearances.

Agree - but improving the 16/17 commonly used players is still really important and will see us add more points than last year (we really only had a 9/10 until end of Jan when it became a decent 11/12)

It's not a "mindset".....

The notion of playing your best available XI from the kick off is going nowhere... It's not old fashioned. It's not like injuries are a modern phenomena either and we've had 25man squads for donkey's years now.

Regardless of the new 5-sub rule; having 2 x world class players in every position is still exclusively the domain of petro-clubs, so the bench is always gonna reflect a drop-off in some areas.

.....Even then Pep has bought players like Ake, Delph, Zinchenko, Torres etc.

....Peak United still had Brown, Fletcher, Park, Raphael etc.
