But Conte could, and should have handled that wording better?

What message does that send out to Djed.

If I were Levy, I'd make Conte put put out a statement clarifying that Djed is an important part of the team. Whether Conte's statement is accurate or not all of his playing staff should be treated equal.
Conte: "this player is young but he showed he can become a good, important player for us."I don't see where he said Djed isn't his preferred choice.

Surely he is going to do much better than having Moura at RWB. Would be curious to see if it will be Doherty and Spence or Emerson and Spence as the RWB options.

I don't see Royal leaving tbh. Conte included him in the pre-season squad for a reason. Even though he wasn't good last season he improved under Conte.. and I think there is more potential there. Anyway, not saying that he shouldn't leave, but I honestly think the coaches want him here.

Emerson was included because he is a professional and does his work as best he can. Conte took Gil too but it doesn’t mean he will stay. It just means he is not in the “I cannot work with you” category of the ones he left at home. If a good offer arrives for Royal he will leave.

For people moaning about our window not being perfect, answer this-

Which elite RWB could we have signed? The alternatives were all like Spence- youngsters with potential like Singo & Molina.
Livramento and Frimpong better but both seriously injured.

Which LCB should we have got? Bastoni wanted to stay. Gvardiol at 80m is a joke.
We'll see with Spence, but I think we could have found a more experienced option that would improve us. For example Dumfries at Inter, maybe Dest at Barca. Whether these are enough of an upgrade to warrant the likely outlay is another matter though. And so I think club has consciously gone back to young English talent, having had success with Walker, Trippier, and having got burnt with Aurier and Emerson to a degree.

At both LCB and RWB I think we are waiting for another window and better opportunities, but obviously there's hope Spence can become the player we need.

cmon man I think its clear he wanted to improve on the RWB position and would have prefered somebody maybe more experienced but that definitely doesn't mean he was against the Spence signing.

2 more signings and I can't really see how we could have expected more from this window.

My realistic preferences are Pau Torres and Maddison. With our outs and the money left I don't see this as unrealistic. Bastoni a dream but given Inter being Inter I can't see it happening anytime soon.

conte is the one who should grow up.
every time with the same stories about his future, or about players bought that weren't his choice.
with this market session he is obliged to reach 3rd place in EPL and quarter finals in UCL.

What an absolute load of shite.

1. He's not 'obliged' to do anything that YOU say.
2. Everything he says is deliberate - already confirmed that when he was apparently throwing a hissy fit last season about leaving, it was designed to get a reaction from the squad...which it did.

Who the fuck do you think you are, or how qualified are you, to tell Conte to grow up.

Delete your embarrassing post.

Myself and Conte are both laughing at you.

Torres and Maddison seem to be the best and most obvious deals. Villareal are potless, want one of our players so if we want Torres surely something can be done there? Cant help feeling we're still hoping something might happen with Bastoni or Gvardiol and Torres is very much 3rd choice. Leicester clearly need money coming in so they can invest and a player with 2 years left on his deal who isnt likely to sign a new one would be an obvious choice. If they do want Winks so much the better.

That is according to Dean Jones, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the latest on Spurs’ remaining transfer plans this summer.

Antonio Conte’s side have been linked with Villarreal and Spain defender Pau Torres, but it seems as though the signing of Lenglet has signalled the end of their pursuit of another centre-back ahead of the new season.

This is also despite claims suggesting that outgoings at Spurs could yet see them delve into the centre-back market again before the end of the window.

Spurs have made six additions already this summer as Conte looks ahead to next season’s Premier League and Champions League campaigns.

And Jones believes that the club’s business so far this summer suggests that they won’t be investing in another centre-back this transfer window.

He said: “I think that the January window would probably make more sense to them anyway [to sign another centre-back].

“Barring an injury crisis, they’ve definitely got enough to get through to November when the season pauses, and then they could address it over the next mini pre-season I guess that you’re going to have and over the World Cup games.

“I don’t think we’ll see a centre-back coming in, if I’m totally honest.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…
We believe that Spurs are well set in the centre-back department going into the Premier League kick-off and it would be a gamble and a potential waste of money to buy another one.

Conte currently has six out-and-out centre-backs at his disposal at the time of writing, which is more than enough cover, even if he is to play a three-at-the-back system this season.

Spurs would be much better off spending their money elsewhere and waiting until January to re-evaluate the centre-half situation

Most of y’all are going to hate me. But I don’t think this window is anything above 6/10 (especially with the others improving) unless we bring in a proper CB and AM. Bissuma is brilliant. Spence I have a lot of hope for, but no guarantees there. Richarlison, I can just about live with.
If we see Maddison come in (finally a replacement for Eriksen) and Pau Torres, I think it’s 9/10. Let’s hope they’re not finished.

If you take the last 6 months and include the Jan window we have improved the first 11 and squad considerably.

Bentancur - Direct improvement on 1st team
Bissouma - Direct Improvement on 1st team
Peresic - Direct Improvement on 1st team
Kulu - Direct Improvement on 1st team
Forster - Improvement on squad + HG aspect
Richarlison - Huge improvement on squad
Lenglet - Improvement on squad (No natural LCB cover before this)
Spence - One of the brightest talents in the championship + HG aspect

Still some work to be done with perhaps Maddison or similar and a top draw centre back if available, but if you look at us now compared to 12 months ago, we are in a considerably better place.
