Would so much rather go for Maddison then Zaniolo

Two ACLs is a massive red flag, Maddison is also home grown and PL proven
That's basically my feeling too. Would rather Maddison, but it's not that I'd turn my nose up at Zaniolo completely.

It does make me curious about the timing of certain rumour emerging. The Maddison links seemed to be more on twitter/forums and not the media, but this Zaniolo stuff has broken out into the latter. Could it be related to finally getting Spence over the line (as he's HG so may lessen the burden for that elsewhere in the squad)? Could it be to hasten Leicester if they were starting to warm to the idea of selling Maddison?

Will be interesting to see how it all pans out. Very glad that we're seemingly aware that additional creativity is required.

Eh..? We used to make these kind of signings on a regular basis before 20 years of frugality under the current administration!

I ❤ our overseas fans as much as the next lady. But I do wish they'd shake this mindset the we're some historical small club punching above it's weight
Utter tosh.
Our signings in the decade before ENIC, with a couple of notable exceptions, were mediocre or gash. Even the big names that we brought in, like Les Ferdinand, were generally past their best. The argument that we bought superstars in this decade basically hinges on us signing Klinsmann (basically coming off a poor year needing to rehabilitate his image) and Ginola (who was 30 and no longer an international as I recall).

IF you can do it without lube 💦 i will 👏👏👏

The one where he’s an attacking player who got 2 goals 2 assists in 20 odd games.

The one where he’s had two major injuries.

The one where he’s not been remotely a top prospect for years now.

But whatever, you’ve decided he’s the shit, so that’s that right?

Yes, I’ve decided you are wrong. My opinion.

Entitled to your own view but I thoroughly disagree.
.

I agree that Maddison would be the nuts, and would prefer him.

I've been a fan since '06. Not a very long tenure for sure, but long enough to have a feel for how the club operates under ENIC. Adding a player like Maddison or Zaniolo as the 7th of the window is a departure from the modern norm. To your point, I don't have the perspective of how the club operated pre-ENIC.

My mindset is that we're Big 6, but don't have the money of City, historical pull of United, recent cup history of Chelsea and Pool, plus a thrifty owner. So, yeah, I'm very happy with this window and how the new stadium is shifting the model for Tottenham.

The problem is I imagine Maddison would be about twice as expensive .. which is justifiable since he's about five times more productive.

Also no idea if Leicester would sell. They seem to have signed nobody this window, so maybe they're a bit tapped out and we could take advantage of that.

Nice sentiment. We’re the 7th most successful English club, all cups and leagues included.

14th for league victories. So most of that comes from cups.

Your attempt to paint us as some huge club, if not for the incompetence of the owners, is not supported by inconvenient things like… facts.

Kulu scored 5 in 55 at Juve, should we send him back?

By the way, since his injury Zaniolo has come back and last season played 38 games. Any player can suffer from injury and his type of injury can happen to any player at any time.

You make it sound like his injuries are inherited genetic and not accidental.

There may be other options, but forget about Maddison, because Rogers will never sell him to us.

No. But the point was Zaniolo wouldn't be an impressive sign of how far we'd come, not that we shouldn't sign him at all, or that we should only ever make statement signings. He may be great if we bring him in, but he's still a player averaging twice as many yellows as g/a lately.

And big injuries can hurt a player badly in terms of developing their potential. He may not get another ACL ever again but still have suffered from the time out and the psychological impact of it. That all adds to the risk.

It’s a basic IQ test. Have to make sure our players can tie their own shoes.

Time has given reflective ability.

Myself and close family have all declined this. None of us have had the virus.

Personally, have valid exemption, but was never going to have it.

Both my children are completely unvaccinated. Both never needed antibiotics except eldest at birth. Both never had significant illness (past eldest from prematurity). Pretty comfortable in my choices.

Well done for free-riding off the rest of society.

Vaccines stop the unvaccinated from getting sick too. If you disagree, go tell me how fun it was to get smallpox before the work of the great Jenner (and Pasteur in France) and a great deal of international cooperation on vaccines helped to eradicate it.

That too was resisted by luddites like yourself but fortunately the sanity of our great nations and their brightest scientific minds prevailed.

Calling him a luddite is too kind. At least the luddites did it out of a fear for their livelihoods. Zest and co just want to feel special with their airy fairy nonsense.

You can see where it gets you. Places like Bangladesh have eradicated polio but we're finding in places like the US/UK for the first time in 3/4 decades.
