They have £50m from sales. They almost signed Kim Minje for £16m.
Seems to make sense- they finished 4th in Ligue 1 last season and have Europa League to compete in this year. I think it's a good move for Rodon, and hey, if they pick up his option, it's probably more than anyone else in England was going to offer us.
Maybe this will see us make a move for DeVrij finally... I'm hopeful for an ageing vet happier to ride the bench to replace Rodon, one that could see us through the next season or two until we need to make a move on from Dier or not.

Ah, this is brilliant. Last year Rennes did us a huge favor by refusing to move a game when our team had Covid, which knocked us out of Conference League and let us focus on finishing top 4.
So now we repay them by letting them have Rodon on loan.
It all makes sense now.
So with Rodon gone and Tanganga expected to leave soon too, we're going to have to sign another CB or else Dier is our only CCB. Will it be another loan move for someone?
If the tweet is correct, it's an option to buy Rodon for 20m.
So there's a good chance all we get is a loan fee for this season, plus his wages paid by Rennes.
Lenglet can play CCB, but your point is still correct that it leaves us with only 5, instead of 6, CBs. That they are potentially willing to let both Rodon and Tanganga go gives me some hope that they actually have a plan in place already to bring in another cb contingent on the other two going out first.
I wonder if they consider Pau Torres, although he is pretty similar to Lenglet.
