If we want to win anything (much less challenge for the league) we absolutely have to stop thinking solely about the starting eleven, and talk about squad depth and rotation options.

It isn't clear to me that an attacking midfielder is the highest priority on Conte's list, but it would give us options to change our shape and keep opponents guessing, which would be nice.
I get the impression Conte is far more interested in another good CB and an upgrade at RWB. Although this Lenglet deal seems to be a stopgap before a huge bid for Bastoni next summer.

When £150 million war chest was announced I had a bunch of the more fanatical ones stalking me all over the forum, cock in hand, even though it was exactly what I'd been arguing for for years!

Now they're saying something like "ah, but it may be spread over 3 or 4 windows dear"

You’re lying. There were people, myself included, who immediately said that it would likely be spread over several windows (and that this was wise).

Don’t make me bring receipts. I know how much you hate evidence.

Why do I get the feeling the same people who were grumpy about us signing the best LWB in the world because he’s 33 and only on a 2 year deal are they same ones complaining about getting a 19 year potential star in Udogie so we’ll have a replacement ready when Perisic leaves?
BUT WE NEED A PRE-PRIME 26 YEAR OLD, WHO IS ALREADY WORLD CLASS AND WILL BE GALACTIC CLASS IN 2-3 YEARS!!! He also needs to provide world-class babies or clones that mature at 10 times the usual rate and have DNA CRISPR-grafted in from Kane, Son and Greaves, even if they are goalies. If we do this, we will be the best now and forevermore and I will never be hurt again.

Honestly, what is so hard to understand about that?!

Extreme interpretation of his rather mild comments, Blakey.....

I just don't think he sees him as making an immediate impact.... What little he said about him being a "club signing" he comes surrounded by talk of hard work.

They were some dodgy quotes tbh. Sure it may be innocent, but personally I thought it sounded like 'if it goes well great, but if not .. this isn't on me' to be honest.

Nah, when the £150 million cash infusion was announced, you were on here taking credit for your years of criticism and claiming all your hard work had paid off. Classic narcissistic behavior that even Trump would be proud of. Probably one of the most embarrassing posts I’ve ever seen on here.
yup, then sitting back waiting to gloat, even if premature when the TW is still quite open..

Perhaps, at a push but its hardly ideal is it. With 5 subs its nice to have some potential game changers, not pushing your right wing back a bit further up the pitch and bringing on Sess.

Well he's a winger by trade and a good one at that.

If it's only for a limited number of matches it's fine, unless you want to spend big money on a player for a just in case scenario which doesn't make much business sense, might as well have kept Bergwijn in that case.

how depressing, perhaps the best time in recent years to be excited and positive as a Spurs fan. But the whining... constant whining and moaning, it's like most people are only on the same team when we're losing and can moan together.

When we need to be united everyone runs separate ways...

WTF is going on?

I am sure Spurs have a lot of interest in Bellingham - just like they have interest in van Dijk, de Bruyne, Gvardiol, Reece James, etc., etc...

Dragon (COYS)

Conte wants 3 more In and big players not Spence like future signings

the interest in zaniolo is real and he’s ahead of maddison in the pecking order but it will be one of those two not both And as I’ve said all summer he wants another big name center half in

a lot depends on shifting the 4 who stayed behind on the Korea trip gio looks first to go , winks we have offers in the 15 range when someone goes to 20-25 he will go , reg a couple of Spanish teams sniffing but nothing firm yet , Tanguy we have zero interest In as yet

we have interest in Jude Bellingham But will be a massive deal in 80-90 million range , the 4 will have to go with decent fees for all plus tanganga etc To fund it
Dragon ( COYS). AKA. Joe Kerr !

£150m must include wages so probably already reached?
Presumably we’ll get some wages off the books too.

And it would be reasonable to have assumed some net spend without the 150m.

But spending it all in one window is not wise imo. One or two more in might be good. But better to have another go next summer when we can assess how these signings have done and think more strategically on our weaknesses based on evidence. The realities of the market might be different too - we might be able to get in an elite LCB (Gvardiol, Bastoni…) which clearly isn’t feasible this summer.

If we signed Mbappe and Haaland and went onto win the CL people would still moan ;)

I think we just go to accept that people have miserable lives and are happy to project their misery onto others by desperately trying to seek any little angle they can to twist it into something they can legitimately use to whinge at , it is what is is.

Bergwijn wanted to leave and i dont think Conte rated him. We 100% need someone because injuries and suspensions will come thick and fast. We coped last season because Son and Kane stayed fit and from February we had one game a week. Champions league and world cup and 4 good forward players and Moura isnt enough. Given we seem to be after Zaniolo thankfully they seem to agree.

The 150M was essentially an overdraft facility that allowed us to buy early and sell late (at the end of the window). Clearly the former was a redline from Conte otherwise he would walk. Still a pragmatic, typical ENIC acquisition strategy apart from the timing

Been a good window tho and bringing in new players for the start of pre season is a huge positive

I'm not disagreeing with us needing depth and rotation options. We've improved that ten fold this summer alone.

If I was to disagree with anything, it's the notion that we absolutely need to sign some bonafide attacking midfield option. Maybe my question should have been geard more towards "Who should we look at as an option?" as opposed to wondering who they'd replace in our eleven.

Because I don't see the benefits of signing an attacking midfielder for £40,000,000+ just for the sake of improving our squad depth. Which instantly rules out Maddison, Zaniolo and likely Pacqueta.

In all honesty, I'd rather just play Kulusevski central if we ever chose to play a 3412. He himself said he saw himself as a number ten and he has played there in the past with Parma and we know exactly how creative he can be.
