It just seems sort of inevitable that if we do sign Traore or James that they will be surplus to requirements in 12 months and we'll be trying to farm them out somewhere, probably on endless loans as no one will pay a fee. Really suprised their Serie A contacts cant find better.

just saying thats the calibre we should be targeting, done it in all comps, thats a cl level signing even if he is expensive, up there with vini jr as the top young wingers

Wouldn't say he's done it in Europe. But he is a great player, one of the best young wide forwards in the world.

Just far out of our budget. He's Man City, PSG level money and about as unrealistic as signing Messi.

Milan are lucky to have him. Id have been happy with their new lad de Keatlare.

But we also beat Brighton twice. Putting five passed them in the process. It was just one of those games.

I've literally just listed 4 games against lower oppo from last season where we had a common problem.... 2 of them were back-to-back home fixtures against teams that quite often struggle to score goals.

Again, our issue is that we're usually too slow on the ball and not brave enough. Not that we're dominated. When the opponents have the ball they just tend to use it better than us before we nullify their attacks.
And that was certainly our problem at home to Brighton. Not enough width by our wing backs, meaning we were far too narrow and slow in possession. Sadly Brighton took their chance at the end.

When your MFs are outnumbered and the oppo are pressing well then it reduces the amount of time we get on the ball..... Sure; quick, high completion-rate passing can help counteract this, but it wasn't such high value (elite?) passing/creative ability that allowed Kante/Matic or Dembele/Wanyama to be one of very few 2 man MFs that managed to win an EPL MF battle most weeks vs 3 men..... (Both contained players with freakish physical attributes.)

its alot but we basically have a ready made son player, didnt realise sonny would be 31 next year, we need a player like that, one of the best dribblers in the world, scores lots of goals, and his pace will scare many teams, 23 too so will still yet to enter his prime years

levy would never do it though
We can't afford that for one player. I'd knock Levy for signing crap like Dan James, I wouldn't knock him for not spending 130m on one player.

Wolves and Southampton home games both included Winks in central midfield. So I couldn't care less about those. There's a reason he quickly became 6th choice centre midfield.

Away game we dominated Southampton so not sure how you remembered it differently. We were denied a quite obvious goal too which cost us a further 2 points. Southampton were down to 10 men though, so hard to truly judge.

But in our formation, that's the point of our wing backs. To provide four across the middle third... When we don't move the ball quick enough, opponents swallow it up.

We could have prime Kante in our midfield two and if he's slow on the ball, he's not going to make a blinds bit of difference.

Kante/Matic worked because they were brave on the ball and moved it quickly. Usually to the wing backs or Hazard to create magic.

Dembele/Wanyama worked because Dembele was a rare breed of press resistant midfielder which allowed him to hold possession before moving it on.

Our midfield two are different to both. In that both are really comfortable in possession but aren't necessarily quick or brave on it nor are they elite press resistant midfielders.

Thing is, we know both can be brave. Hojbjerg was fantastic yesterday. He showed bravery on the ball, he pretty much ran midfield and should have had two assists off the back of it. Bentancur however couldn't match him. It was one of his weakest games for us

If we had that Hojbjerg every game partnered eitb the Bentancur we saw at home to West Ham last season, we'd arguably have one of the best midfield pairings in the league. They'd move the ball quickly, be calm under pressure and we'd be alot more easy on the eye in that middle third. Unfortunately, we don't see that often enough.

I'm hoping Bissouma can come in on Wednesday and show us what we're missing. In that he's very press resistant but also very brave and courageous using that football.
