And people were saying Chelsea aren't going to spend like they did under Abramovich. If anything, they are spending more. Not only that, but they are getting some real quality players. If Gvardiol goes through, that's a back 5 of James, Fofana, Gvardiol, Cucurella, Koulibaly, which is probably the one with the highest ceiling of any club. They will be tough this year and probably more so next year.
 
Gvardiol for that much money is even more of a risk than Fofana. The guy got absolutely bullied by Rangers in the Europa League last season.

If that means our main target next summer is Bastoni, so be it. He'll only have 1 year left on his contract next summer too.

Let's see how they spend over the next couple windows, the owner is obviously interested in splashing cash and making a good first impression. Just think it's a bit early to say it will be sustained.

That said, what a massive amount of money they've spent between just Fofana and Gvardiol (170 million euros)
 
Gvardiol looks a top talent.. Chelsea mean business going forward. Fofana, Gvardiol, James, Cucurella, Chilwell, Koulibaly is scary options for the back 5.

There will be other great options for us in that position next year. First hurdle we have to clear is finishing in a CL spot this year and signing an option for RW that isn't Dan James.
 
Still no expansive midfielder. Seriously can't believe conte would ignore this role... Surely this is a more important than another winger even more to when traore and James are being mentioned in the press.

It will be interesting to see if they can get the revenue growth not to run into FFP trouble. I do wonder if it is Saudi money too.
