I think Conte wants bigger players. Clearly the kid has a lot of ability.

Conte does seem to have a preference for big, physical teams but he's used a lot of more diminuitive/lighter players before, but they have to provide something tangible & have a clear role. Not sure Gil does that, whereas at least James would be a late 'wildcard' option (ala Adama) who you just chuck in to stretch teams with pace.

Adama yes but I just don't see it with James at all.

He doesn't have that fear factor and it's not like he beats players for fun like Adama.

I agree tbh. Adama is a way better choice for a last throw of the dice.

James is very, very quick though. I guess if you want somebody who can run extremely fast in the squad you at least have that option .. but I have no idea how Conte would actually use him as he's an incredibly limited footballer.
 
I have no explanation for it but I can cope with James a bit better as a replacement for Lucas. Can’t imagine this would occur unless Lucas himself wanted to seek more playing time elsewhere.
