Great point but isn't that what THIS actually is? We got Conte (short-termer), Perisic (good but old), did business in January (which we don't often do), kept Kane (though no extension), and extended Sonny, AND spent 60M on a backup forward. Although I would have preferred the 'blowing it up and restart a project' approach this surely isn't that. Now that we've moved on the unwanted players (Ndombele, Lo Celso, Winks, Reguilón, etc.) I must admit that our squad is feeling a little lightweight.
All the reasonable of us realized that this revamping process would take several windows, but it does seem like there should be some emphasis on winning now, whilst we still have a peak Kane + Son.
And now Conte's out here talking about 2-3 more windows to challenge. I'm assuming he's including January as well because he won't be here 2-3 more summer windows from now (not necessarily but highly unlikely). And in 2-3 more summer windows Kane (will no longer be under contract) and Sonny will be ancient. This IS trying to win now however unsatisfying an approach that is.
