More than obvious why he wants to bring in Van Hecke alongside Senesi, he wants us playing out from the back consistently

Building up is the weakest part of Vuskovic's game, I don't understand why people are adamant he's the finished article now, physically he's ready but technically there are still holes.

People are crying for no reason.

I originally didn't like the idea of loaning him out again but the more I think about it it makes complete sense. I guess the idea is he can come back next year a more polished player and I'd imagine we'd have European football as well so many more mins to go around.

Nah he's not too young. He's the biggest talent in world football and he will be coming into a club with two back to back 17 place finishes in a transitional season with not much pressure in way of trying to win something or qualify for the champions league.

This is the perfect time for him to come back,it literally can't be any better. He will be replacing a bum of a 'captain' that most people have given up on a while ago.

Probably going to be the best centre back of all-time.

And yet De Zerbi, might not want to unleash
that wonder talent on the PL.

I'll let the manager know.

There is not much worse than just seeing whatever one wants and failing to consider other factors. Really blinds conversation unless it is stacked with comprehensive and compelling evidence.

He is clearly more than good enough for PL football, Bayern wouldn’t want anyone to upgrade their CB position. However PL experience would mean he would have even less adaptation when he does come to us. At that age you just want to play football to learn and grow, if I were him I would rather play 50 games for Coventry in the PL than 10 games for Spurs in the PL. if he played for Coventry next season the following season he would have all the experience to hit the ground running and move whoever was in his way out of the team. It would also allow De Zerbi and the coaching staff to see him in the prem environment. There would be no doubt he could come in and take the CB spot.

Well, we will know for sure over the next month or so.

What are your expectations of the window after we sign Van Hecke for 50m? What do you realistically think we will do?

Not if you’ve identified he’s the right player for the club for the next 5 to 6 years.

Say we over pay by £10m, that’s a £2m write down each year over a 5 year contract. How it affects your cash flow is probably the biggest hurdle, but with Robertson and Senesi on a free it kind of evens itself out.

The extra over could be sorted in performance related add ins, that if met you’re unlikely to care if it costs more eg top 6 finish would mean a jump in the PL TV rights pay out.

We’ve got to stop being penny wise, pound foolish or we’ll have learnt nothing from two consecutive 17th place finishes.
There's something else about Van Henke deal that bares considering( Im not sold on him by the way Id be offering the money for Lacroix at Palace) The optics matter... we NEED to restore credibility after the Eze MGW humiliation. We need respect from officials other clubs and media, we can not afford another public blow out. So now we pay the money get it done its become about more than a centerback.

Lots of fans thought that Rice wasn't worth 100M

A players value to a team isn't always about length of contract he has remaining, and we will likely once again settle for the left-overs rather than the main course.

He's twenty five, possibly coming into his prime and paying say fifty million for an excellent CB who should be good for the next eight or nine seasons is still very good value.

If we have made two offers, then we will likely make a third.

Absolutely and it's simply to negotiate a compromise fee.

Brighton aren't stupid and neither are we........ well, maybe bot too stupid.

The concern is if it's open for other clubs to step in but Van Hecke can hold firm and say he wants to join us. As Rice did with that lot, despite the City bid. And there are realistically only 1 or 2 clubs who might seek to nip in ahead of us.

You would think it's just a matter of time, and very obvious that De Zerbi, for all his attacking preference, wants better defenders in place.

I don’t disagree however I have watched Vuskovic in the German league a few times with Hamburger due to us owning him. He seems very good and calm on the ball but Hamburger do not play like Bournemouth or Brighton, they seem like a very counter attacking side lower in the league type team. He didn’t look particularly quick but his passing and ability to retain the ball under pressure looked really good. He certainly did not show any technical weakness when I watched him, looked more composed than Danso for example. His speed was the only thing you could really note as an issue but Van Hecke and Senesi look about as quick but we have Van De Ven anyway. I do accept though that De Zerbi wants a ready made squad it appears for next season and Van Hecke is as ready as they come.

Manager and coaches at Barca called him a "model professional"

Thirty two games, many as sub, eight goals, seven assists in thirty two appearences.

I'd take that next season from a left winger.

That's because FCB were his dream move and he wanted a perm deal this summer......

However; his track record proves that if he's not invested then his performances will drop off massively......

People have forgotten he bunked off training so he could go clubbing whilst Ten Hag was in charge and Amorim also banished him to Villa on loan cos his attitude stank despite him (on paper) being a perfect player for his 352/343 system.

Yeah probably, he didn’t fulfil that potential. But his returns as a wide player are better than literally 95% + of wide players in his better seasons. At Barca he is in the absolute top percentile for returns. We have Mathys Tel who gets like 3 goal returns and two of them are deflected goals and we’re saying it’s a risk to sign a guy who slams in worldy free kicks in an el clasico.

Rashford isn’t top tier but he’d be our star attacker and it isn’t close. That doesn’t necessarily mean we should do it because his wage demands and the overall direction RDZ wants us in are a priority, but it’s definitely not because Rashford doesn’t score or assist enough.

This being said - he rocked up at Villa, wasn’t overly productive but was extremely good & loved by fans who badly wanted him back. So if there’s an opportunity there, then..
Do you not think its telling that barca decided to pay out on Gordon rather than tried and tested Rashford? I dont dislike him but i think he will end up being a problem 8n a season or so if we do sign him. His last year and a bit at man u was painful, not chasing anything, this was the club he loved.
