Transfers Summer 2026 Transfer Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Going back to this as well, we were having the same arguments last summer. Apparently we didnt need Semenyo as we didnt need another left winger because we have loads(cut to the end of the season and we’ve only got a very raw Tel playing there) Kudus is the better fit as we’re lacking a dribbler and according to stats he’s better than Semenyo. Clearly not in reality and where it counts.

So the idea that we’ve got loads of ball carriers, I’m not buying at all. It’s only really Bergvall who could potentially come close to what Scott offers in that regard anyway even if you believe that’s all he does.

Eze was the same. We didn’t need another number 10 apparently and were finishing the season with someone who’s better without the ball in that position.

??

You might want to refresh your memory a bit because I wanted Semenyo so I’m not really sure what point you’re trying to make here. Maybe you’ve got me mixed up with someone else or you’re just arguing in bad faith or something I dunno but I’ve been saying for ages that we needed a proper LW, eg Ndiaye and Lookman were both names I pushed once Semenyo was no longer realistic.

And no you’re reframing my argument, I never said I didn’t want Eze full stop I said I didn’t think he should’ve been our marquee signing because he isn’t a natural 10 and I’d have preferred the money to be spent elsewhere - that's completely different lol

A lot of people wanted him as a winger even though he’s never really been a natural touchline winger either as he naturally drifts inside and at the time I didn’t really want him as a 10 because we already had Maddison and Kulu, my issue was always about squad balance and priorities, not the quality of the player.

As for the ball carriers, how do you describe, Gray, Sarr, Bentancur, Bissouma - pretty much much of a muchness, I guess Scott has better technical ability most of them but he doesn't stand out as anything exceptional compared to them.

Disagree.

His goals and assists in the Championship this season, for a mid table team, are comparable to what Jack Grealish was doing for Villa at a similar age in the Championship.

I'd give him a go to be honest.

Got to be better than Biss.
Its weird because anyone can see Hackney is ready and he is also a championship player. Id Bring back Devine and go get Hackney because this team needs footballers not more lungs on legs.

One way or another, there has to be a significant flux in our MFers this summer....... Even at best; they're grossly inconsistent and this pre-dates Frank.

Seeing posts about keeping Benta, Pal and even in some qtrs Biss + the massive uptick in opinon over Gallagher (after just 2 good games!)....... Do too much of that there'll be no room for significant upgrade considering we will have limited game-time to share around next season.

The only two I'm committed to keeping are Gray & Berg.

Would we cry if we lost any of them? I’m not so sure.

22 goals in 36 matches puts him second in the top scorers position. I’d say that was extremely good.
For a start, Thiago had two very bad injuries last season and another serious enough one the year prior. Knowing our history and luck, I'd rather a guy with a clean bill of health. That said, he's obviously recovered very well considering his showings this season.

22 goals is impressive, yes...but 8 pens. I know, they're all count the same. Still, you gotta factor that in when analysing the lad.

Judging by the paucity of decent strikers in the market, who should we go for that we can get?
Yes the market is gash...no more R9, Crespo, Batistuta, Henry (I know), Vieri, Shevchenko, Rooney, Raul...

And yep, we're not really flavour of the month for top players.

If we use the argument that Solanke and Richarlison were good before we signed them, are we looking for a striker who isn’t very good instead? Not sure I get your point here.
Come on pal, you know that ain't what I meant. I'm just saying, we gotta do our due diligence proper and not go all out for who may just be another one-season wonder. Solanke had one solid season at Bournemouth, Richy was decent at Everton...but it was obvious they didn't have the goods for the top of the table stuff. Still, our in-house geniuses splashed big cash on them. Thiago gives me the same vibes, but what the eff do I know.

Honestly wasn’t being a dick. Just didn’t understand what your point was. Somewhat clearer now.

Seems to me that if we don’t take a punt on someone that might come good, we are as well going into next season with what we have.

Thiago is a punt, no doubt. Ramos at PSG the same. Vlahovic an expensive punt.

On the note of “what the eff do I know”, I’d try for Nicolas Jackson. Think there’s a good player there, looking for the right team.

Nothing to suggest Devine is PL ready.

You don't scrape PL survival and then entrust your fortunes in Alfie Devine the following season. Not if you are run by sane people.

We really should be buying a new starting 10 and not be relying on Maddison and Kulu (who btw is shit as a 10) to be back to 100%. Can forget about Xavi too.
No-one saying he’s a 10. Just a really
Good player, two footed and keeps the ball and can score goals

If we survive I want to see at least 200 mil (not including sales) invested in this squad to ensure we never get close to this kinda situation again
:vinai:

I don't care what we spend, just spend it correctly.....120-150 mill spent smartly on clever, hungry, technically proficient players that fit DeZerbi is better than 200 mill spent on the types of shit players we've been signing for the last 10 years or so

Would we cry if we lost any of them? I’m not so sure.

Nope.

I'm particularly uncomfortable with the growing notion that Gallagher should be 'a pressing #10'..... As if the plan moving fwd shouldn't be a creative attacking player like Madz & Xavi....?

.....That's Crystal Palace type shit; not a front foot philosophy.

If he's not suited as a #8 for us, he's already surplus to requirements; but virtually unsellable 6 months into a massive contract.

Just blithely spending money never works for us though. Just look at the horrorshow of our top 8 biggest signings. We need a plan and we need to make smart signings. For that we either need to hand the keys to De Zerbi or get another recruitment specialist in, cos Lange does not know how to build a balanced team.

Squad needs open heart surgery. But our owners are our owners, so freebies will be essential!

GK: James Trafford
RB: Oscar Mingueza (Free)
LB: Andy Robertson (Free)
CB: Marcos Senesi (Free)
CM: Joao Gomes
CM: Alex Scott
LW: Marcus Rashford
ST: Dusan Vlahovic (Free)

For a season with no Europe, this squad should be good enough.

GK: Trafford / Kinsky

RB: Mingueza / Spence
RCB: Vuskovic / Danso
LCB: Van de Ven / Senesi
LB: Robertson / Udogie

CM: Gallagher / Gomes
CM: Scott / Bentancur

RW: Kudus / Kulusevski????
CAM: Maddison / Simons
LW: Rashford / Moore

ST: Vlahovic / Solanke

...reckon we will have another shot at Gibbs-White..? Could be funny.
Anderson almost certain to leave which weakens them and he might think it's time to move on, in spite of the new contract he signed last summer.

He needs to move and I don't know where else he can go, we seem the obvious move but we will have to pay more than last Summer regardless.

Will not see Simons until 2027 and we don’t know what Madison will be like and Dejan after such long times out.

So you want to sign 8 players and not one who can pass the ball expansively? Incredible….
