The only goal I can find this season where he scored with a lot of space on the counter was against Burnley. For his other goals there wasn't much space and he got himself in a shooting position to score.

The problem is that we need goals in the team. I'm not too sure if Savio's game is about getting in those types of positions and shooting to begin with. Sure it can be added to his game like it has to Doku's but that's a big if.

Savinho and Kudus on wings doesn't exactly scream prolific.

De Zerbi is gonna need to earn his money by getting goals out of them.

Didn't pull up any trees at Norwich. Did well in German 2nd division and Belgium top league is probably worse than our Championship. He's not the answer mate but I think you are right in that we need to think and look outside the box.

Some players take a little longer to improve.....look at Semenyo for example

Femi Azeez at Millwall is another ready to go up a level if someone is brave enough

I mean he scored five goals this season so we’re not talking about a prolific scorer either. He is a good player, I would just stay away from West Ham players generally this summer. I just think Savinho has never really felt like he’ll start the next game at City so he snatches at his shots a bit. He can get separation from his marker so he will get chances to score.

Tap in merchant is going to try get as much mileage out of this as he can isn't he

Echoing others, this concerns me for a number of reasons…

1) This is an old target, probably the hierarchy again reverting back to that clown Paratici’s list, so the question will remain, does De Zerbi actually want Savinho, or is he merely approving him as a club signing. And for the people at the back who still can’t grasp the difference between the two, just look at the last 20 plus years of ENIC recruitment gaffs and it will eventually make sense to you.

2) as others have pointed out, is he not a bit shit? He has now spent 2 seasons as a winger in the best attacking team in the league under the best manager in the world, and has managed 2(!!) Premier League goals in 2 seasons. Any time I’ve seen him play he has looked incredibly average. Spending 60 plus mil on him to me just seems insanity…

If there is a rotation City forward we are going all out for, it should be Omar Marmoush, not this geezer.

Sure but 5 goals for a winger is decent and we need goals badly. We'll need to replace goals in the team as well as add more and any player that has even 5 goals in them is vital.

Savio just seems like too much of a risk for me especially for the price tag being mentioned compared to someone like a Summerville who has shown that he can contribute with goals in the prem.

He's good 1v1 but if we get him we'll have to go for either a top goalscorer or buy other players who can score goals and spread them around the team. If we really spend 60m on him I can't see that happening.

Does Kudus fit what De Zerbi wants? He wants quick ball movement and players switching positions…Kudus hugs the sideline and only passes the ball if he has run out of any other options.
I think any manager on the planet would like to have a player like Kudus in their team.

He's a good footballer so I doubt he'd have much issue playing the way De Zerbi likes.

Savio price tag is not mentioned actually. We are not going to get him for same fee as last season. So stop believing something thats not been said yet...

Summerville 24 yr old, 5 goals (4 of them came in Jan month) - At best a streak player. Sure Summerville looks good on eye - so will be Savinho if he is actually played in a system to run behind and hurt defenders...not camp at edge of the box and play tiki taka.

Yes, I want us to buy 100m players. I’ve had enough of 60m punts that get injured and aren’t consistent.

And judging Savinho on his production levels as an attacking player, he’s shown nothing to suggest he will become a 100m player either.

Its not about the 100m transfer fee.....Wirz and Isaak both cost more than 120 mill each and they have had terrible seasons due to injury or failure to adapt

We have to scout the right technical level, desire to improve, on field intelligence and we don't have to spend obscene amounts of money that the majority of big money signings fail to live up to hype

Agree about Savinho

They aren’t really winger anymore though. Most of the time they are wide forwards that score by cutting in from the wing or arriving at the back post.

Either that or they are #10’s that play wide and drift into the middle to create stuff.

True wingers are pretty rare…
His style is being a true winger that runs down the touchline. The fact that he's left footed and prefers to play on the left says that he's not comfortable cutting inside.
