Transfers Summer 2026 Transfer Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Name one single player in our current squad that has achieved anything of note at league level.
The best I can come up with is Romero for his national side, not a league side. And he's leaving. Hopefully.
Bentancur won Serie A three times with Juve, twice as a regular starter, he also won the Argentine league twice at Boca Juniors.

Pedro Porro ended a 20 year title drought at Sporting.

Kudus won the Eredivisie twice.

There are some winners in the squad.

Because we didn’t add quality depth, not because we didn’t add a bunch of 32 year olds.

Thats not why we didnt win finals.

Quality and depth would have helped but experience and people who have won shit before can help take you to another level on the big days.

That's not to say we didnt need great quality or depth - but one or two experienced winners would have 100% helped.

Not if they aren't any good.

I just categorically reject this idea that overpaying for Andy Robertson to be a mediocre backup imports Liverpool's culture into our dressing room.

Liverpool's actual culture is pushing a legendary beloved player out the door because he no longer makes the grade at the level they demand themselves to compete at.

2017 semi final vs Chelsea. 2-2. 70 mins

They brought on Hazard & Costa

We brought on Janssen & N’Koudou.

Having players with ABILITY matters first.

Casemiro was the biggest “winner” in the Europa we won.

We won because we actually had quality defensive depth to bring on in Spence, Danso and Gray to see it through when legs were flagging.

Why people can’t see it this is troubling. If Robertson was still so vital, Liverpool wouldn’t be getting rid.

I detest hand-me-down signings.

You make your own stars with your own culture and standards.

Because we are not at the level of Liverpool’s squad or don’t have a dressing room culture as professional as theirs. We are trying to get up to their level.

Zinchenko and Jesus were hand me down signings for the Scum but helped them get to where they are now even if they weren’t part of the destination.

not denying that - both help, though you can't convince me otherwise.

It's not IMPOSSIBLE that Liverpool is making a mistake. But whether on this board or in the reporting about the transfer, I'm not hearing anyone claim he's still capable of being a top performer, it's all voodoo inspiration bollocks.

Nobody in the dressing room cares how good you were at a different club ten years ago.

Oh, I'm not advocating for Robertson here

Liverpool's level is way above our level.

I repeat, we have been 17th two years running.

We are fortunate we aren't being linked to the likes of what Notts Forest are.

Andy Robertson no longer being good enough for Liverpool doesn't mean he's not for us.

Theres nothing wrong with a hand-me-down signing if its a good one.

Liverpool might not be offering him as long an extension as we are offering, or they might have some real talent coming through and want the pathway, can be any number of reasons for him to leave outside of "he isnt good enough"

There are plenty of signings out there of a certain vintage that have dont on to do great things for their new clubs

And dont forget, we arent where Liverpool are right now. Not good enough for them may well be perfectly good enough for us.

I feel like Iver been defending Robertson signing a lot, and honestly Im kind of 'meh' about it - I see sense in getting some quality and experience on a free - but its not one Im exicted about. I just dont think its a bad deal either.

Both had lost their place within a year of joining. Woolwich evolved so quickly past the need for both. Zinchenko was a snowflake and shit defensively, whilst Jesus was always injured. Some leadership.

Arteta set the culture and their building blocks were Gabriel, Saliba, Odegaard and Saka .

They subsequently kept adding quality players who fit Arteta’s style all over the pitch.

Robertson is the type of signing Everton always make, Phil Neville, the return of Rooney, Gareth Barry.

It’s a myth and an illusion. It only makes sense if the individual themselves is an improvement on what you already have. Robertson was awful this season and is only going to get worse from here.

I imagine you wet your pants laughing when Lindelof signed for Villa.

I personally think on his day Baleba is the absolute business. Questionable attitude based on reports after the link to united last summer? But if we got him in and reunited with RDZ it could be a dream 6.

True, but it is fair to question whether some proper winning experience would have helped get us over the line then - we didn't have it from the manager or any of the players, really, bar Lloris maybe?

Squad was only meekly supported unfortunately. Daniel appears to merely have gotten lucky all at once with some good player development rather than actually adding to the squad through the transfer window. I'm thinking back about "experience" and thinking about Llorente, Friedel and Cudacini! 😂 The whole situation reminds me a lot of Ryan Nelsen and Luis Saha actually...

I can't see us outbidding any of the bigger clubs that surely want him. Would love Baleba but it seems a bit of a pipe dream right now.
