What about Lewandowski on a free transfer?
For many reasons, even giving him £10m for a season would be a far smarter move than another Kolo Muani on £150k/week plus loan fee.

Same with a few other seasoned pros. He's far from finished
He's going to Chicago Fire, back off! :lamelaaghh:

It’s very simple with these players.

1) Does RdZ want them?
2) Are they committed?

If the answer to either is ‘no’, then sell.
Even if the answers are "yes" or some flavor of "maybe", getting a good price to shift a player and open up opportunities to recruit others is part of the process now even at the biggest clubs.

I like Porro a lot and agree that he's been underappreciated, but he's not irreplaceable and we should be wanting to power our recruitment as much as possible.

Think Ivan Toney or Nunez or Nicolas Jackson make more sense than a bloke pushing 40 to be honest.

Personally I think a 38 year old Lewa still getting double digits in La Liga would be amazing for our club in general than going for a flop who make Richarlison look like prime Lewandowski

Not least the fact that he'd be a lot cheaper - even more so in terms of commercial perks

Toney I'm not 100% sure about

Firstly, this is a mealy mouthed response from the CEO. Completely dodging the question.

But at the end, this would have to be the first admittance from anyone in the ENIC bubble that our wage structure hasn't been fit for purpose.

The first step is always acknowledgement and acceptance, and hopefully this relegation scare has humbled the executive and ownership enough to enact change. Meaningful change.

We need players that can actually head a fucking football and score goals.

Romero's aerial dominance needs to be replaced. Not just in terms of defending but also his goals. Same with Richarlison and Palhinha if he's leaving. That's 20 goals between the three of them that needs to be replaced along with their ability in the air.

Id only sell if we can get a clear upgrade

I like Porro, and I think he can work really well under RDZ, so Id rather keep him
I agree. Porro was fantastic as a wing-back at Sporting, on a back 3 where he didn't have to do so much defending. That's why we signed him for Conte. But on a back 4 formation his defensive frailties come to the fore. If we can get good money for him and find a RB that's as good an attacking player as Pedro but better at defending, I say go for it. If not, let's keep him. I really value his contribution to our attacking play and I suspect this will only improve with RdZ.

Probably comes down to whether he's willing to sign a new deal. He has 2 years left on his contract - that's usually the sweet spot for a sale. After that the player has control - can threaten to leave for a free or we might get a crap deal. We've been terrible at selling for ages and need to get better at letting go of players when they still have value. And while Porro can be decent, I don't think he's indispensable or irreplaceable by any means.

Also depends on De Zerbi I guess - does he see him as a key part of the project? If so, can he sell him a dream and get him to re-sign?
Agree completely. He's 26- if we sign him to another contract, we won't be selling him for any serious kind of money at the end of it, either.

I don't think his defending is as bad as many say

If he is expected to run the entire right hand side both offensively and defensively he's been exposed

He's not perfect, at all, but also he is entirely functional in a back 4 in a team set up properly

See RDZs time so far
